"A New Song" JULY 2016

Bible Study

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:

The writer to the Hebrews refers to the risen Christ as having,
“THE POWER OF AN ENDLESS LIFE” Hebrews 7:16
How absolutely beautiful! The risen Christ not only has all power, but an endless life as well!
Praise God! And you know what? We all have access to that same power and endless life by faith.

So this month we want to think about how all that power will help us in life’s journey. This power is available to all who have accepted the Lord Jesus as Savior and Lord. (Philippians 4:13)

      hank
  • WE HAVE POWER OVER SIN
We all know about sin because we are all poor lost sinners (Rom. 3:23). Not a one of us can stand up and say we have not sinned in one way or another. We also know that God will allow no sin in heaven and, to complicate matters, there is no remedy for sin such as education, wealth, prestige, rank or whatever. So what to do? Answer—flee to the risen Christ Who has all power and is able to forgive us our sins and wash us white as snow. (Isa. 1:18; Eph. 1:7; John 1:7).
  • WE HAVE POWER OVER SATAN
What a scoundrel he is! And he is one tough ombre’ as seen when Michael the archangel could not withstand him and referred him to Jesus (Jude 9). But we never need fear the devil because if we stay close to Jesus, His wonderful Spirit is greater than Satan and beats him every time! Hurray for our side! (I John 4:4) Someday our risen Christ will cast him into the lake of fire where he belongs. (Rev. 20:10).
  • WE HAVE POWER OVER TEMPTATION
We are all tempted by the devil in one way or another. And my friend, don’t think you are such a spiritual giant that he won’t tempt you. He wasn’t afraid to tempt the Lord Jesus so he won’t hesitate to give you the works if he can! (Matt.4:1; I Cor. 10:13) And don’t say the Lord tempted you to do such and such a thing because God never tempts us. God tests us to bring out the good; the devil tempts us to bring out the evil, the louse! (James 1:13).
  • WE HAVE POWER OVER REMORSE
Webster defines remorse as “a gnawing distress arising from a sense of guilt for past wrongs.” Have you ever had remorse? My guess is that most of us have because I have talked to so many who have moaned over past sins, myself included. But the power of the risen Christ can help us forget them by assuring us that ALL our sins have been washed away in the blood He shed for us on the cross! Please notice the ALL. Now if God forgives ALL of our sins, it just doesn’t make sense for us to carry them, does it? (Heb. 10:7; Philippians 3:13; Col. 2:14)
  • WE HAVE POWER OVER GLOOM
By that I mean down hearted, discouraged, despairing. There are a thousand different things that can bring it on. A lengthy illness may do it or disappointment in some person or event; and worst of all, loneliness. But dear friend, we can live above it by God’s grace. Just remember the fact that Jesus is always with us. (Heb. 13:5) And also keep in mind the fact that Jesus spent much time alone.
  • WE HAVE POWER FOR SERVICE
The apostle Paul told us that with God’s help, we can do all things. (Philippians 4:13) That is, all things within God’s will. There are some things we could not and should not do, such as holding a grudge. We can all serve Jesus in one way or another; that is why He has left us here. Those on sick beds, unable to raise a finger, can pray. Some of you shut-ins can do more for God by praying than the rest of us running around until we are blue in the face! (James 5:16).

So let’s celebrate the resurrection of the Savior and draw on His power to glorify His name. Oh yes and by the way, you wouldn’t believe it but we get a ton of bills every month—some of them reaching around the world. PRAY, that is the most important; GIVE as God directs you; you are our ONLY source of income; TELL others about the ministry; THANK God daily. God bless every last one of you.

In our Savior’s Love,
Harold E. Salem, Pastor

Letters From Our Viewers

I work in a nursing home and on Sunday morning most TV’s are turned to the Christian Worship Hour. There was a Sunday it seemed every TV had Christian Worship Hour on. I thank you, Pastor Salem, for convicting me about tithing. The Lord brought it home to me when someone renting our land on a crop share never paid us our part but kept the money and spent it on himself when it was never his to spend. Neither is the Lord’s part of my “income” mine to spend no matter how much I may think I need it for myself! As I read in Deuteronomy, it is teaching me to put God first.

MOUND CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA

I came upon your ministry and really liked what I heard. I thank you for the word you preach and how you make it so simple and plain to understand. This is a portion of my tithes. May God ever bless and keep you strong.

NEWARK, NEW JERSEY

I am already born again but I fell away. I teared up when you started talking about the story of the prodigal son. God is so good. I know his will be done in my life. That really touched my soul! Praise God, thank you. If you may please pray for God’s will to be done in my life as I am facing prison. Thank you so much and God bless you. Your sister in Christ.

LACROSSE, WISCONSIN

Thank you for your service in Christ. Your simple way to understand preaching reaches more souls for Christ better than some others who use high-fallotin words, hard for the average person to comprehend. Instead of waiting for the “under-taker” we are really waiting for the “upper-taker”—–Christ coming in the clouds—-the Rapture of the Church. It can’t be far off. The church is not mentioned after Rev. Chapter 4—because we will be gone after that to be with Jesus.

LINEVILLE, IOWA

You’ve said that if a person asks God to come into their heart that he will. Does that prayer have to be said out loud or will he hear you if you say it silently in prayer? Could I please get your booklet, “Salvation”? Thank you for turning this lost sheep back in the right direction. God bless you!

DULUTH, MINNESOTA

Thank you for your old time sermon and song. I make it a point to watch every Sunday at 9 A.M. Some Sundays my granddaughter who is eight years old watches with me. She calls your program the “God Show”. After your sermon we talk and she asks questions. I try to answer them the best I can. She is very good at reading but struggles to understand the verses of the Bible. She has accepted Jesus into her heart. I’m so happy for her and I know your program has been a Big influence upon her! Thank you very much my prayers are with you and your many fine people. A proud Grandfather!!

HAMILTON, MONTANA

Our mother was very ill towards the end and really enjoyed watching your program when she was no longer able to attend Sunday church services. Our dad also greatly enjoyed your program and often would watch it in bed right by her side.

SHERIDAN, WYOMING

Your sermon on the subject of aging was inspiring to me as I am 95 years old this month. I know my age is a gift from God. May He continue to bless your work.

FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON

I listen to your programs and am so blessed. I live in a care home and enjoy Christian TV programs. Please send me any CD or tapes you offer. Yours in Christ.

SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA

My wife is cremated and her remains are in my house. I would like to know how long I can keep her remains before burial. (Week, month, year?) My wife and I always wished that our remains could be buried together. Bless you and thank you. God bless you.

ANACONDA, MONTANA

Thank you for getting my husband and I watching Christian Worship Hour. It has changed our life.

PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON
