"A New Song" DECEMBER 2015

Bible Study

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:
When a child is born, the first thing is to name him. I am so glad that my Mother named me Harold, because that is what everyone calls me! But here is One Whose Name is above every name. (Phil. 2:10, 11). The prophet Isaiah told us His Name 700 years before He was born.

“….His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God,

the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.”  Isaiah 9:6

Just think about that NAME:

  • HIS NAME IS “WONDERFUL”.  Well I should say so.  Like a diamond that flashes beauty no matter which way it is turned, so the Lord Jesus is wonderful no matter which way you look at Him.  For instance, look at His nature—God and man in one person.  Friend, there has never been such a person before and there will never be another again.  Jesus Christ is unique.  Jesus’ teachings are wonderful because they tell us the way to God and heaven.  There is only one door into heaven, and it is labeled “JESUS”.   (John 14:6; Eph. 3:18, 19).  And you know what; Jesus becomes more wonderful the more you know Him!  Wonderful?    Well, I guess!
  • HIS NAME IS “COUNSELOR”.  And boy do we need a counselor!  We are on a wilderness journey with pathways leading everywhere and all looking good.  But the end of the trial is disaster except for one Way, the ONLY way, Jesus.  Jesus is able to give us wise counsel for in Him is all wisdom and knowledge.  (Col. 2:3).  Because of His wisdom, He never makes a mistake, so we can trust His guiding hand.  The problem is that some of us do not listen, we do our own thing and it flops.  Jesus never has a failure.  (Ps. 48:14; John 14:1).
  • HIS NAME IS “THE MIGHTY GOD”.  Men and nations like to think of themselves as powerful and mighty—but look at the mess the whole world is in due to these wonderful so-called leaders.  Personally, I don’t think the world’s leaders can ever straighten out the mess they have brought us to, only God in His might and power can turn things around.  But because He is Almighty, we need never fear in this life or the next!  (Isaiah 9:7; Ps. 46:7; 86:10).
  • HIS NAME IS “THE EVERLASTING FATHER”.  This does not mean that the Son is also the Father because each Person in the Trinity is distinct.  It is better translated, “Father of Eternity” meaning that Jesus is the Originator of all things that exist.  Can you imagine it, Jesus was His earthly name, but in fact, Jesus never had a beginning or an ending—He is eternal.  The events of this life are but like a wisp of smoke but our Lord is the eternal and everlasting Rock of Ages!  Isn’t that great?  (Ps 93:1, Isaiah 64:8).
  • HIS NAME IS “THE PRINCE OF PEACE”.   He came to bring peace, but we will never have that peace until we personally make peace with God by accepting His Son into our life and are born again!  In the home, or the church, or society—there can never be peace until we have the Prince of Peace in our hearts and lives.  So we need to be sure we have placed our faith in Jesus, and personally asked Him into our heart and then we can have peace.  But we must not stop there; we must be peacemakers telling others about what Jesus has done for us, and urging others to trust Him.  (II Corinthians 5:20; Ps 126:3; Ps 47:6; Rev. 5:13).

So, we rejoice in Jesus Whose birthday we celebrate the month.  What a joy it is to know Him, and if you know Him, you will love Him.  No way around it.

And so we send out the good news all over the world!  We thank all of you for your prayers and gifts, without which we would not carry on.  We have no other source of income but through God’s people, but that is sufficient as you all give as God leads.

God bless you, and a MERRY, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

In our Savior’s Love,
Harold E. Salem, Pastor

Letters From Our Viewers

Jesus come in my heart, forgive me of all my sins.  I will do the best I can to please you in all I do.  Jesus come in my heart.  Thank you Jesus.

-GROVELAND, FLORIDA

My son and I watch and listen to the Christian Worship Hour on Sunday mornings at 8:00 am.  You led my husband to the Lord before he passed away in June.

-SHORELINE, WASHINGTON

Your “New Song” work sheets are life giving.  I gave someone the January 2015 work sheet because they “hoped” they were saved and were struggling with this thought.  Because of God’s timing & will, this person humbly accepted the worksheet and a few days later told me he knows he is saved!  He said he now knows there is no “lay away” plan and is very thankful.

-HILL CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA

Big THANKS to Christian Worship Hour.  Look forward to Christian Worship Hour every week cuz it sure brightens my day!  It is like going to doc and getting realignment every week!!!  Not sure how to spell chiropractor.

-PELICAN RAPIDS, MINNESOTA

I am so glad I discovered you on the internet.  Although it came late in my life, I thank God for bringing me your good basic, honest preaching about the most important part of our life, Yeshua.  Bless you and your work.

-UNION CITY, NEW JERSEY

HI!  It’s me Livia again.  How are you?  I am now in 1st grade.  It is fun.  My triplet siblings are doing fine and will turn 4 years old soon.  I have been reading my children’s Bible to them every night and then we sing songs and say our prayers to God.  We have been praying for you and the Christian Worship Hour.  I am sending $19 that I tithe from my allowance to help the ministry.  I love to go to church and Sunday School every Sunday.  Love, Livia.  PS  I will turn 7 soon!

-DAVENPORT, NORTH DAKOTA

By radio I learned more about the WORLD OF THE LORD JESUS and about THE HOLY BIBLE.  By your programs I improved my knowledge about THE WAY FOR MY REDEMPTION.  Thank you for your help in my salvation.  I will continue to listen to your programs again for many years.  Best regards from your Italian listener.

-LUCCA, ITALIA

God bless all of you.  We are one in Christ, my Savior and Lord.  I love Him so much.  I am 82 years old.  I came to know Jesus when I was 43 years old.   I was searching in so many areas.  Then the precious Holy Spirit showed me the way to Jesus.  Bless all of you.

-CITRUS SPRINGS, FLORIDA

I was saved in 1984.  I heard a minister talking about Rahab and how she was saved and was even in the lineage of our dear Savior.  I came to my senses and knew I couldn’t live a life like hers anymore.  I know God forgave me but it took a long time to forgive myself.  I know that if God would give me one chance I could live for Him in my own special way.  I married my husband 30 years ago.  I have looked back many times and can’t believe how sinful I was.  I am telling you this to be a witness to many people that their lives can be changed.  The Holy Spirit breathed new life into me and can breathe into yours.  Bless you Pastor Salem for all your encouragement.

-ANTIOCH, CALIFORNIA

I watch your program on Saturday mornings in the New York area.  I don’t watch every week but when I do, I know God is working through your ministry.  Your energy inspires us older folks.  God keep you and bless you.

CALENDARS ARE DISCONTINUED

After much prayer and thought, we have felt led to discontinue sending calendars.  The reasoning is that the cost last year for calendars was $12,8000.  This year it would have approached $15,000.  We can add another TV Station for one year for $12,132.  We felt we ought to use the calendar money to reach more people with the Gospel.  We do not like to disappoint anyone, but if it means we can win more people to Christ, we have noother choice.  We hope you understand.  God bless you.
