"A New Song" JANUARY 2017

Bible Study

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:

Guess what! I found a wonderful treasure chest, and it is filled with the most valuable items you can imagine. Let me share them with you. They are all found in the fourth chapter of Philippians:

  • THE JOY OF THE LORD TO ENCOUARGE US
“Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.” Vs 4. That means we are to be happy and rejoicing in the Lord, no matter what. Whether we are on cloud nine, or we are down in the dumps, we rejoice in our God. How can we do that? Keep our eyes on Jesus. When Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he walked on the water. When he took his eyes off of Jesus and looked at the tempest, he began to sink. (Matt. 14:28). That’s true—I know from experience.
  • THE PRIVILEGE OF PRAYER TO COMFORT US
“Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known unto God.” Vs 6. The reason some of us have so many complications and complaints is because we are carrying the burden alone. Jesus will help us if we let Him. (Matt. 11:28-30). Next time you are overwhelmed with problems, give them to Jesus!
  • THE PEACE OF GOD TO KEEP US
“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” vs 7. There are a lot of irritable people running around the countryside, and you know why they are irritable? Because they are not at peace with God. Get right with God, and we will be able to live with you! (Isa. 57:20,21). That peace of God also keeps and helps us when we have tough times. We have to learn to lean—and the sooner the better!
  • THE PRESENCE OF GOD TO CALM US
“Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” Vs 11. We live in a society that is in a dither trying to get ahead of the Jones’s. God tells us to do the best we can, and leave the rest to Him. If we follow that advice, we will be like the sheep settled down and satisfied. (Ps. 23:2, Heb. 13:5). Our soul will find a resting place.
  • THE POWER OF GOD TO STRENGTHEN US
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Vs 13. That doesn’t mean we can fly to the moon, but it does mean that God will supply everything we need to carry out His will for our life. God leads us along all through life; and if we walk with Him, we will have the means and strength for everything that comes our way! That’s the way St. Paul lived his life. (Phil. 1:6, 21; 2:12, 13; 3:10).
  • THE PROMISE OF GOD TO PROIVDE FOR US
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Vs 19. Look at that! God has all power; there is nothing beyond Him. He is the First and the Last and this wonderful God tells us that He will take care of His children through our dear Lord Jesus. We may have our worries—losing our job, family matters, old age, sickness, you name it. But whatever it is, it is never too big for our Father in heaven. (II Cor. 12:9,10).
So there; I have shared my treasure with you. Jesus said, “Go, and do thou likewise.” (Luke 10:37). We need to share this good news with others. And that is what the Christian Worship Hour is doing; we share the gospel with the whole world.

But you know what? We need help. We need you. Three ways:

PRAY
That is the most important. Some of you are shut-ins, but you are not shut-out. You can approach the throne of grace on equal footing with all the rest! (Heb. 4:16).
GIVE
We are leaving this up to you and God. Give as He lays it upon your heart. If we ever get more than we need, we will take on another station and reach more people with the gospel.
TELL OTHERS
Word of mouth is the best advertising. If the service has helped you, then share that with others. Thank you all.
See you this weekend, Lord Willing.

In our Savior’s Love,

Harold E. Salem, Pastor

Letters From Our Viewers

You give me strength. Since I gave myself to Jesus my life has new meaning. God bless you and your staff.

ABERDEEN, SOUTH DAKOTA

We sold our soy beans and want to give you some of the money that belongs to God.

VILLISCA, IOWA

We do appreciate your worship service as we do not get to church services. We are 97 and 93 and do not drive anymore. It is so good to hear the gospel as we learned it when we were younger. We pray for your work and hope you can continue spreading the word as it is so encouraging.

PLEASANTVILLE, IOWA

I have been homebound since the summer of 2004, the result of a stroke. I look forward to your worship service on Sunday mornings.

REDFIELD, SOUTH DAKOTA

Another year has rolled by. I am now 103 years old. I so much enjoy your singing and preaching. The first pastor I remember in my church just drove horse and buggy about 1920. He retired and went back to Chicago. My dad bought his horse, Kate, and the buggy. I rode to town in the buggy with my mother. She drove up to the livery stable and they took care of the horse while my mother and I went up town to do our trading. Trading was right as mother took eggs and traded them for groceries. People seemed more religious in those days and appreciated life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I’ll see you again next Sunday. Keep up the good work, In God’s love.

WORTHINGTON, MINNESOTA

My wife was on her death bed when Hank sang “This world is not my home”. She heard him, got up and came into the living room knowing she was so soon to be in heaven. She passed away a few days later. Thank you so much.

MILACA, MINNESOTA

I am 69 years old, a Viet Nam Veteran (it got very dark over there). As with you Sir, I was about 9-10 years old when the Lord spoke to me, “Come Larry, go with me.” I was baptized and the Good Lord has been with me ever since. I’ve faltered, fallen and even gave up on Him a time or two. I have suffered many tribulations. I have felt as though the whole world is set against me. He is there in the darkest of times. But though He may be hard to see, or reach at these dark times, He never has forsaken me. May God keep and bless you all the days of your life. A friend in Jesus.

JAMESTOWN, MISSOURI

I just tuned into your program and so far I like what I see and hear. You make the Word so plain even a child can understand. Thank you!

BRIGHTWOOD, VIRGINIA

Dear Christian Worship Hour, I’m writing requesting prayer for me and my brother and sister. We are sinners. We need to be saved. We need healing in our bodies and mind. We are poor people. We only live on a very small disability government check a month. We really stay in need all of the time. Thank you and God bless.

GIBSON, NORTH CAROLINA

Life is so great! Jesus is now in my life. So blessed, Thank you.

STUART, IOWA

You have encouraged me every Saturday afternoon at 4 pm with the basic “old school” teaching we need to stay “on point” with Jesus teachings! I do pray for your ministry to reach many more lost. God’s speed pastor.

WORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS

After hitting rock bottom I have become a born again Christian after watching a taping of your show two Saturdays ago after hearing that God can forgive all sins. Makes me feel like it is never too late to start serving God. Thank you for the information and for spreading the good word and the love of Christ. God bless you.

SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA

Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit,
