"A New Song" JANUARY 2019

Bible Study

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:

“Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved,
let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with
reverence and godly fear.” (Hebrews 12:28).

Here the writer to the Hebrews calls us to service to God. The Bible tells us the kind of service we
should give. Here are seven kinds:

 WE SHOULD GIVE GOD EXCLUSIVE SERVICE. That is, He is to be first in our lives in all that we do. Jesus tells us we cannot have two masters at the same time. (Matt. 6:24). Every last one of us is going to serve God or the Devil. If we are not for Jesus, then we are against Him! (Matt. 12:30). It is impossible to be neutral.

 WE SHOULD GIVE GOD CONSECRATED SERVICE. That is, we are totally separated unto God. We are not our own to do as we please, we are not the quarterback calling the plays! Jesus bought us with His own blood, He owns every last bit of us, no wiggle room for our self; it all belongs to the Savior. (II Cor. 6:17).

 WE SHOULD COUNT IT PRIVILEGED SERVICE. Just think, we are special servants to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! We are His ambassadors, representing Him to all the world. (II Cor. 5:20). So we ought to hold our head high and glory in our high calling! (Gal. 6:14). But be careful, to be spiritually proud is the kiss of death! (Matt. 23:27). Instead, let us rejoice in our high calling! (Cor. 1:26).

 WE SHOULD MAKE IT 24/7 SERVICE. That is, every day all day long as God gives us breath! We should be like old Anna the Prophetess who “served God with fastings and prayers night and day”. (Luke 2:37). The unsaved serve the Devil 24/7 and end in hell, so we serve God 24/7 and end up in heaven! I’m all for it.

 WE SHOULD REJOICE IN OUR SERVICE. What on earth is uglier than a man who claims he knows Jesus and then runs around with a face a foot long! Probably was baptized in dill pickle juice! Instead, let’s be like Nehemiah who shouted out, “the joy of the Lord is your strength!” (Neh. 8:10). The more joy, the more strength.

 WE SHOULD NEVER TREMBLE AS WE SERVE. Why should we be afraid when we know our wonderful Jesus is the Victor? (Rev. 19:11-16). Satan is defeated, his wicked days are numbered, his end is in sight. But Jesus lives forever as King of Kings, so take heart, get to work, never give up! St. Paul went through hell on earth but he never gave up. (II Cor. 11:23-28). You’re going to quit? Better think again!

 WE ARE GOING TO BE REWARDED FOR OUR SERVICE. Can you imagine the thrill it will be when Jesus, our King, tells us, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matt. 25:21); And besides that, Jesus is going to give us a crown, not for being successful, but for being faithful, and all of us can be faithful! (II Tim. 4:8). But best of all will be that moment when we see Jesus, face to face! The veil will be removed; we will see Him in all His Glory!

So we serve the Savior. Another good way to serve Him is to help us in getting the wonderful Word of God out to all the world by television and shortwave radio. How do you help us? First and foremost is to PRAY for our ministry. Then GIVE as God lays upon your heart. And finally, TELL OTHERS to tune us in. God bless you for helping us!

In Our Savior’s Love,

Harold E. Salem, Pastor

Letters From Our Viewers

THANK YOU FOR WRITING…
We are donating a few dollars and asking for the DVD movie “The Heart of a Shepherd”. I’m sure it’ll be a good witnessing tool.
MAPLE GROVE, MINNESOTA

I gave my “Heart of a Shepherd” to my 98-year-old friend. She lives in a senior home and she has shared it with many people there. It is good to share with as many people as you can.
DES MOINES, IOWA

I am a 76-year-old woman and I’m on a very limited income (in the poverty range). My health is not the best. I watch you every Sunday morning. I thank you for your service. I need your help as I have 5 children plus grandchildren whose lives are in ruin. I’m sending a small donation. I wish it were more. I need at least 10 copies of “Heart of a Shepherd”. If it only helps to save even one of them, I’ll be happy in the Lord.
NEWBERRY, MICHIGAN

My husband went to heaven. He had pancreatic cancer. I would like you to send me 10 films of “Heart of a Shepherd”. I want to give them to my four children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many more.
MITCHELL, SOUTH DAKOTA

I have no relatives only in Norway. They are high in the mountains and can’t get shortwave. I told him about New Song and “Heart of a Shepherd”. He is willing to buy a DVD player and have it in his mother’s room as many of her friends speak English and wish for it.
LEONARD, NORTH DAKOTA

Thank you so much for the pamphlet “Watch me Grow!” I am so impressed with it that I am asking for more of them to hand out. I pray that in doing so, more people will realize the gift of life is so precious and a true miracle from God. Please send 25 if you can.
CUSTER, SOUTH DAKOTA

My mother prayed for our family to be saved and accept Jesus. She witnessed to them often but she recently went home to be with the Lord at age 89 and didn’t see her prayers answered. I believe God will answer her prayers and soften hearts and they will accept Jesus. All ages can know Him. Please pray with me for our whole family to get saved. God bless you!
SOMERSET, MASSACHUSETTS

Please send video of “Heart of a Shepherd”. I am on a fixed income and take care of a son who has had 2 strokes. I cannot send money at this time. Please pray for the family. Blessings.
SHENANDOAH, IOWA

Postman: Do you know JESUS? Watch Christian Worship Hour!
SEASIDE, OREGON (On the back of the envelope).

I had a cousin that was diagnosed with leukemia. I witnessed to him in about 10 letters, sent him scripture and your New Song, etc. But it wasn’t until I sent him your film, “Heart of a Shepherd”, to watch that he finally gave his heart to Jesus! Before he died he said that he’d see my sister in heaven (she passed away one month before he did). Until then he was strictly a non-believer so thank you for your motivated film and saving his soul. Jesus loves you and we love you!
WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA

One DVD is going to a 92-year-old lady in a senior living building. She leads a weekly Bible study, ministers to the older people and was a missionary in Congo. She has been praying about ways to bring people of different denominations together. Another we will send to the unsaved parents of a Campus Crusade worker. He travels the world showing the Jesus film. Please pray that his parents’ hearts will be softened and they will bend the knee before it is too late. They have had a live-in Christian caregiver from Africa for the past year. God is good.
COON RAPIDS, MINNESOTA

Memorials

“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
(Revelation 14:13)
