"A New Song" OCTOBER 2017

Bible Study

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:

Jesus talked about the harvest:

“The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few. Pray ye,
therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers
into the harvest.” Matthew 9:37, 38

 JESUS SAID THAT THE HARVEST IS GREAT. That is, there are many to be brought in to the Savior. There are so many outside of Christ that you cannot count them. They are like the sand of the sea, the stars in the sky, the leaves in the forest, or the grass of the field. Jesus likened the lost to the kernels of wheat in the great harvest fields of the world—like, say, China. By-the-way, the Christian Worship Hour is in China via telecast and short wave radio. Thanks for your help. Pray that part of that harvest will be brought to the Savior.
 JESUS SAID THE HARVEST IS VALUABLE. This precious harvest is of tremendous value. Jesus did not compare it with gems of the mine, the pearls of the sea, or the gold from the hills. No, He compares it to wheat, precious wheat, more valuable than silver or gold. How so, you ask? Well, for supper tonight how about trying a dish of gold coins. Personally, I’ll take a bowl of cereal made out of wheat. Wheat and corn, most precious thing on earth to a starving man. What value is a soul? Jesus shed His blood for that soul. It is worth more than money can buy. (Matthew 16:26).
 JESUS SAID THE HARVEST IS IN DANGER. Harvest time is almost over. The fields are filled with precious grain, but so few to bring it in. To make it worse, there are other fields also. The season is getting far along, the autumn damps and dews are already upon them and the chilly, frosty night that are the vanguard of winter is in the air. Mildew is spoiling much of the grain while other parts are shattered and fallen to the ground. What heartache! Precious souls are going into eternity every day, every hour, and there is no one to reach them. Danger, well I guess so! (Mark 8:36,37).
 JESUS SAID THE HARVEST IS READY. “They are white already to harvest” (John 4:35). We have the idea that everyone is going to be offended if we tell them about Jesus, whereas the fact may well be your neighbor is waiting for you to talk to him. When the field is harvested, the great combines go to the fields; the fields don’t come to them! I am thankful to God that someone came to me 86 years ago and told me about Jesus. It is time for us to turn off the TV ballgame and go out into the highways and the byways with the good news of the gospel. (Luke 14:23).
 JESUS SAID HE NEEDED WORKERS. Jesus said that “the laborers are few”. (Matthew 9:37). Have you ever thought of this—Jesus could have called millions of angels to go out and tell others! And they would have gladly done it for they always obey Jesus. But no, Jesus wants the redeemed, those who have been washed white in the blood of the Lamb, to carry the good news and bring in a lost world. Laborers, not the lazy, not the sluggard, not the indolent but the man, the woman, with a burning heart for the lost. Those who go down into the fields and into the wheat, brother, sister, you can’t do that from a lazy boy rocker in the front room! (Psalm 126:5, 6).
 JESUS NEVER SAID IT WOULD BE EASY. Satan is constantly fighting to keep the harvest in this fold. He is strong and he is cunning, but Jesus is greater than the devil any day, and if we go out into the harvest fields, many will be brought into the loving arms of Jesus. (I John 4:4).
So, please join us in prayer. The Christian Worship Hour sends the Gospel all over the world via television and short wave radio. Did you know that short wave radio covers 90% of the world’s population! Praise the Lord!

In Our Savior’s Love,

Harold E. Salem, pastor

Letters From Our Viewers

THANK YOU FOR WRITING…
Thank you for sending me correspondence every month. Enjoyed John 3:16 very much. I intend to teach it at Sunday School. Please send me your booklet, “Can a Christian Lose Their Salvation”. Your brother in Christ.
(This listener is in Trinidad. He listens to Shortwave Radio Broadcast that covers Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and the top half of South America.)
TRINIDAD, WEST INDIES

I just wanted to bless you, my family in Christ. Thank you for continuing so faithfully and humbly in furthering the Gospel of Jesus with such simplicity. Here in New York City where I live and work as a Broadway performer, it’s been difficult finding other young adults aiming to live for Jesus. I’m going to write a letter for some advice. I just wanted to send off a gift to you asap.
NEW YORK CITY

I am always blessed when I listen to The Christian Worship Hour. I pray to God to give you the health and strength to keep doing what God sent you to do and keep you on the air for the sake of the Christian. Please pray for the Coptic Christians in Egypt.
WINTER HAVEN, FLORIDA

I am a 62-year-old Mexican mafia member who after 25 years converted over to Christianity. I have found the Lord and I get ridiculed because of it. The Lord has showed me His power, even though I am in prison, good things have happened to me in here. If the Lord can save me, He’s got the power to save anyone. Even though I get a lot of flak, I will not for nothing in this mortal world, give up my faith in my Lord. God bless you. Keep up the good program on Sundays!
DEER LODGE, MONTANA

Your service has made a life changing difference for me. After receiving Jesus Christ as my Savior, I have a peace that is indescribable. I do not fear death for I know that I will live with Jesus. I understand that God has a plan for us which we may not know and perhaps it is something that we have to endure. But there is joy in knowing that all things in this life will pass.
GRIMES, IOWA

Thank you for loving God and loving all of us.
SAINT LOUIS PARK, MINNESOTA

Can you recommend a good study for an old lady? But with large print. I enjoy your service every week. Please send me the New Song and anything you have on depression. I have lost my husband of 34 years and he was my only friend so I feel all alone and depressed. Thank you. An older lady.
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLORIDA

Enclosed is memorial gift for my father who passed away just 5 months short of age 100. He relied on you for his worship service the past 18 months. It was a blessing for both of us to share your weekly sermons and music.
DRAYTON, NORTH DAKOTA

I love pastor’s good words. I found Jesus on September 7, 1950. I pray each day in German. My dad read the German Bible. Oh how I miss my mom and dad.
SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA

Hi! How are you? I am good. Thank you for doing the Christian Worship Hour. It saves a lot of souls. I accepted the Lord when I was three years old. Me and my family try to watch your service every Sunday. I am sending a picture that I drew. I am sending $5.00 of my birthday money. (I just turned 10). You are a blessing-giving blessings! Keep up the good work!!
NATOMA, KANSAS

We watch and listen to you on your Christian Worship Hour every time we visit your country. Your TV program is a great source of encouragement and inspiration. My wife and I are pastoring a local church in Manilla, Philippines. Please keep us in your prayers as we keep you in prayer. Sincerely.
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS

I just thank you for the work you all do so that people like me can have a better understanding of the Word of God. I was saved at a young age and fell away for many years until I found you on my T.V. one Sunday. So I believe God our Father led you to me and I thank God for it. Your Sister in God.
