I Thess. 5:18

I read recently about an elderly man who was walking the beach with his only grandson when a giant wave crashed onshore, sweeping the child away.
The man looked up to heaven and said, “Oh God, this is my only grandson. How can you take him like this? My son will not understand. My daughter-in-law will die from grief.” Suddenly another wave came by, and deposited the boy at the old man’s feet. The grandfather looked up to the heavens again and said, “and God, he had a hat!” Good grief! But then again, are you like this old man, never satisfied no matter what? Shame on you and me. Saint Paul admonishes us, “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (I Thess. 5:18). God showers us with blessings, both material and spiritual, so let’s not be like this nit-picking grandpa who is never satisfied, no matter what. Let’s be thankful to God, no matter what.
