"A New Song" APRIL 2017

Bible Study

Recently I was reading my Bible when I came across the words of St. Paul that really spoke to my heart. The apostle writes:

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; He was buried and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
I Corinthians 15:3, 4

Those are all historical facts, not fiction, but cold, hard facts. Facts you can hang your hat on, facts that never fail. Let me give you four great facts about Christ:

  • HE DIED. Yes, He literally died. The Son of God was dead, if you can imagine it. He was crucified and, in scarcely three hours, He was dead. It happened so fast that, “Pilate marveled” that He was already dead. (Mark 15:44). Why did He not linger on, as did some who were crucified that might live days on the cross? Well, He gave up His spirit almost immediately because He had completed His work, that is, He had shed His precious blood for our sins. The work of redemption was completed, “bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” (John 19:30). What a glorious death it was because it opened the doors of heaven for all who receive Him. (John 5:24).
  • HE ROSE. Yes, He was literally raised from the dead and now lives forever as our Great High Priest. It is a fact of history. The angel of God declared to the three women at the tomb that first Easter Sunday Morning, “He is risen! He is not here” (Mark 16:6). And, because He lives, we live also. After the rapture, out in the cemetery those left behind will discover, “He or she, is not here—they have risen,” Wow! What a victory! Victory over the Devil and over death. The greatest battle ever fought was won by Christ our Lord. So take heart, the body of your loved one out there in the grave yard will be raised just like Christ was raised. (I Thessalonians 4:13-18).
  • HE LIVES. And because He lives, we have a High Priest in heaven interceding for us. When you are lonely, or hurting, or sick, or out of a job, or sinking in some sin—just remember that Jesus at the right hand of God, is interceding for you, just as He did for Peter before Peter sinned so grievously. (Luke 22:31). So He prays for us continually. (Hebrews 7:25). And that is not all, He is also the Good Shepard who watches over His sheep. He knows us and He knows all about us. (Hebrews 4:15). He has not only counted the hairs of bald headed, he counts the hairs of your eyebrows, bushy or not. Imagine, lose one measly hair, and a number is missing! (Matthew 10:30).
  • HE COMES. He is coming again. Listen to Jesus, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself.” (John 14:3). He will come again. It may be in death that He comes for us, or He may come in the clouds of the sky to take us to be with Him forever—either way is fine with me! (I Thess. 4:13-18). And, we are going to get a glorious, new body like our Lord’s resurrected body. St. Paul speaks to that when he writes, “For this corruptible must put on incorruption (the dead in Christ) and this mortal must put on immortality (those alive in Christ and caught up in the air). (I Cor. 15:53).

That is why the Christian Worship Hour is in existence, to tell the whole world the facts about Jesus Christ. So, we pray that you will join us and help us. PRAY regularly for this ministry. TELL your friends. GIVE as God leads. Pray and ask God what He wants you to do. We have great needs, but we also have a great God. Thanks for your help.

See you next week, Lord willing.
In Our Savior’s Love,

Harold E. Salem, Pastor

Letters From Our Viewers

Thank you again for leading me on my walk with Christ.
DALLAS, TEXAS

My wife and I look forward to your service every Sunday. I have had many new insights of Jesus’ love in my life since watching your service. You have brought to me the personal Jesus not another outside unknowable. God bless you and your crew.
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

Thank you for coming into our living room every week!! Love all of you!
PELICAN RAPIDS, MINNESOTA

We were out of town last week and I missed your service. So later in the day I watched it on Vimeo on my Kindle fire. It was great! Thanks to your staff for always making the Word of God available on the internet.
SUPERIOR, WISCONSIN

If this small donation helps save just one soul, it is worth millions.
SUN CITY CENTER, FLORIDA

Before my husband went to be with the Lord, he learned that “Jesus is the way, the truth and the life” from your program. I also know several other people who would not have heard the true Word of God anywhere else.
ESTELLINE, SOUTH DAKOTA

I appreciate the “lessons” you give us during your worship hour. I also appreciate the fact that you stand in one place instead of roaming to and fro or back and forth as some of the younger preachers do. You also emphasize parts of Scripture without shouting. Thank you for all you do.
POLSON, MONTANA

Enclosed please find my tithe. I think I have taught my grown up children to tithe their income. I think they’re learning to tithe. I told them it this way. God wants them to be obedient. A true tithe is ten percent of your entire income. Then I told them you cannot out give God. I think when it gets said that way, it makes you humble. Anyways, I slept through last Sunday’s service. God bless you and the Christian Worship Hour staff.
BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA

I live in a remote part of Alaska (Anaktuvuk Pass) and when The Chapel in the Mountains, our small church, does not have services, I am so blessed to be able to listen to your service on line. Today’s service was about dying and death. Because Jesus saved me, I don’t fear it and pray that every person who lives hears and takes the leap of faith to give their body, spirit and mind to the open arms of Jesus.
ANAKTUVUK, ALASKA

I am disabled and watch your worship hour on channel 10. I live in a 12 story building for the elderly and disabled. Recently I started a Bible Study in my apartment for a small group of people. I am requesting you mail. “7 Reasons Why I know I’m Going to Heaven”, for our group. Please send any other information you would consider appropriate for our learning.
OVERLAND PARK, KANSAS

Thank you for your weekly church hour. I accepted Jesus into my life on your show and it has been a wonderful experience.
FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA

After having a stroke, I realized how much your message means to me. I felt Jesus taking me by the hand and saying follow me and I will help you through the dark valley of depression.
LECOMPTON, KANSAS

I recently repeated the sinner’s prayer at the end of one of your programs and I’m so glad I am saved by the Blood of Jesus. I love Jesus and I know He loves me. I’m 71 years old and I’m a Viet Nam Veteran. The Lord brought me through that and I’m so thankful for that. The Lord has brought me through a lot of things in my past. I love Jesus with all my heart. Thank you Pastor Salem for your ministry.
VERNON, ALABAMA

Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit,
