DEVOTIONAL BIBLE STUDY: “Promises of God”

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:

When we prepare for the upcoming year of 2023, we have to have a promise of God for all of us to start the New Year. So we turn to the Book of Philippians, chapter four and, instead of one wonderful promise, we find SIX.

So, here are six precious promises God has given for the year ahead, promises that will carry us through and help us over any rough spots that might be ahead:

v “REJOICE IN THE LORD ALWAYS” vs 4. God tells us, His children, we should always be happy and rejoicing. The thing to remember is, if God tells us to do something, He will enable us to do it! So, the next time something doesn’t go quite right, give thanks and praise to God and rejoice in Him. Impossible? If you try to do it on your own, well yes it is, but if we do it with the Lord’s help, it is possible. A verse that has helped many in times of trouble is Romans 8:28—that ALL things (good and bad) work together for good. (Ps. 19:8; Ps. 32:11; I Pet. 4:13; Rev. 19:7).

v “BE CAREFUL FOR NOTHING” vs 6. This should be translated ‘anxious’ for nothing. In other words, don’t worry and fret. A lot of Christians have troubles or trials because they don’t rely on God. We don’t have any excuses, as long as we read and obey the God’s Word, the Bible. (Ps. 62:8; Ps. 125:1; Isa. 26:4; Jer. 17:7, 8).

v “WE CAN HAVE THE PEACE OF GOD” vs 7. Isaiah said that the “wicked are like the troubled sea…whose waters cast up mire and dirt” (Isa. 57:20). But you know what, there are plenty of Christians who have the same condition! You know why? They are not at peace with God---they have some sin in their life that destroys the fellowship God wants to have with them. To have real peace with God, we have to forsake all known sin. Not easy, but worth it! (Ps. 85:8; Ps. 122:6-8; Isa. 48:22; Isa. 57:21; I John 1:9).

v “I CAN BE CONTENT” vs 11. Have you ever noticed how discontented the people out in the world are? They are never satisfied, but are running around looking for something to fulfill them. But they will never be content until they have Christ in their heart. We were made for God and until and unless we have God in our life through personally accepting Jesus, we will never be at ease. On the other hand, if we have Christ in our heart, we will be content no matter what we have, or don’t have. (Ps. 23:2; Matt. 5:6; Luke 6:21; Phil. 4:12).

v “I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST” vs 13. None of us knows what lies ahead in 2023. Chances are that there will be the good things and the bad—because that is what life is made out of. But one thing we can know, and that is, with Jesus all things are possible and with His help, we will have the strength for anything that might come our way. The key to it all is, we must be in the Father’s will. So God taught us to pray that, not my will, but His be done. Satan and his hosts of hell cannot so much as touch us if we remain in the Lord’s will. (Ezra 10:4; Ps. 27:14; Isa. 40:28-31; I Cor. 1:27-29; I Cor. 4:10; Heb. 11:33-40).

v “GOD WILL SUPPLY ALL MY NEEDS” vs 19. All my needs, that takes in the material, physical, spiritual, emotional, financial and you name it! Since God made everything He owns everything and He shares it with us as we need it. That does not mean we will not have troubles and trials, Jesus said we would. But it means God will see us through anything that He allows to come our way. (Ex. 16:4-10; I Kings 17:2-7; Matt. 6:25-34; I Tim. 6:17).

So, bring on 2023. With our dear Lord’s help we will live through it all and have fun doing it. Besides, who knows, Jesus might come this year! These are hard times for some of you, but God needs to be first no matter what happens.

In our Savior’s love,

Pastor Salem

Letters From Our Viewers

CWH 2023 MINISTRY UPDATE

Dear Friends of Christian Worship Hour,

We would like to keep you apprised of the exciting things that are happening here at CWH. There has been much activity since our beloved Pastor Salem was “promoted” to Heaven and we are looking forward to 2023 with high expectations for his amazing ministry!

CWH had prepared for Pastor Salem leaving this world for his eternal home, and we continue to broadcast his hundreds of powerful, timeless, and relevant messages from God’s Word.

We are thrilled to have Pastor’s son, Mike Salem, hosting our programs. Mike introduces the message, reads letters from viewers just like his dad loved to do and closes with a powerful salvation message. Our viewers love the new format.

Pastor Salem was aware of how technology could play an important role in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world and we are utilizing Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Vimeo, Instagram, and coming soon, ROKU. In June 2022, we launched an updated and expanded website that will make it even more convenient to access the Good News. Our website, CWH.org offers many ways to minister to people all over the world. You can:

· Watch current programs as well as your choice of hundreds of 30 and 60 minute programs.

· Locate a TV station in your area to view the broadcast.

· Visit a new section titled, “You Asked, Pastor Salem Answers” as well as new short Devotionals.

· Submit your prayer requests on our “Pray For Me” page.

· Read and subscribe to our newsletter, A New Song.

· Learn ways to remember this ministry in your will or estate.

· And much more…

We plan to grow the digital part of the ministry to reach more people with the Gospel Message, which will literally be at their fingertips 24/7.

We are so very thankful that we have been able to carry on this ministry because of folks like you. We are a listener supported non-profit and are accredited by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). As we look to the future with anticipation and hope we would be most grateful for your continued prayers and if God leads, your financial support as the Gospel continues to be proclaimed through the Christian Worship Hour!

Grace and Peace to you,

Bill Edwards, President

Christian Worship Hour
