"A New Song" SEPTEMBER 2018
Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:
I was raised on a farm (proud of it). I have many wonderful memories of the farm, but perhaps the
greatest was harvest time. Jesus talked about a harvest, listen to Him:
“Therefore said He unto them, “The harvest is great, but laborers are few:
pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers
into His harvest”. Luke 10:2.
This great challenge tells us:
THERE IS A GREAT HARVEST BEFORE US. Jesus said it took in the whole world! Jesus also said that His heart ached for that harvest. (Matt. 9:36-38). God the Father valued this harvest so much that He gave His Son so as to bring it in. (John 3:16). Somehow, dear friend, we are going to have to do something so we see that vast harvest as our Lord sees it. (Matt. 23:37-39).
THE HARVEST IS READY NOW. On the farm, we didn’t take a vacation at harvest time, just the opposite, we got up early and we worked late (except on Sunday). There was an urgency about it. Jesus tells us that the harvest time for souls is right now, this day, we must not wait a minute. Listen to Jesus, “Say not ye, there are yet four months and then cometh the harvest”, don’t dally around but bring in the lost, the time is now. (John 4:35; II Cor. 6:2). We must work now!
THE HARVEST IS VERY VALUABLE. It sure was to us out on the farm; we needed it for the livestock and maybe sell a little to get by. The harvest Jesus is talking about is far more precious than anything we had out on the farm. He is talking about a harvest that is so valuable that Jesus shed His blood to make it possible for that harvest to be brought in. The soul of a person is more valuable than all the world put together, we must bring them in. (Mark 8: 36-38).
THE HARVEST NEEDS WORKERS. It sure won’t come in by itself. The harvest is like a lost sheep (Isaiah 53:6) and believe me; they never come in by themselves! But the tragedy of it all is that God has many children, but not very many laborers! So Jesus says, “The harvest is truly plenteous, but the laborers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.” (Matt. 9:37, 38). Every one of us needs to be listening, Jesus is calling us to do help in the harvest but we are too busy with the trinkets of this world to bring the eternal soul of the lost.
SOME WAYS WE CAN HELP BRING IN THE HARVEST. For one thing we can tell others Jesus saved our soul, what He has done for us. The maniac of Gadara was saved, and he immediately wanted to leave all and follow Jesus and bring in the harvest. (Mark 5:18-20). The woman of Samaria, who had a string of past husbands and was now shacked up with some jerk, found Christ and went back into the city, told her story of redemption and started a revival! (John 4:28,29). Listen and I’ll bet you will hear a still, small voice saying, “Help Me with the harvest”. If you obey, you will be blessed to the depth of your heart. Tell others. Pray like crazy. Give like crazy too, and watch the harvest come in!
As I wrote this devotional I thought, just think, the Christian Worship Hour is going into the whole world, all over the globe bringing in the harvest. (We just got a letter from a man in Indonesia who said he had prayed to accept Jesus). Brother, Sister, when you pray, and give, and tell others—you are out there bringing in the harvest even though you may be in a bed or a wheelchair! (Isaiah 55:11)
And won’t we be glad we labored when we see the King! God bless you.
In Our Savior’s Love,
Harold E. Salem, pastor
THANK YOU FOR WRITING…
I, like a lot of our loved ones, look forward so much to the weekend and spending the hour with all of you. It would be an empty weekend without the anticipated letters with either praise or problems and all the answers straight from the Bible. That is my “Happy Hour” of the week.
PINEY FLAT, TENNESSEE
I am a Christian and try to watch Christian Worship Hour every Saturday. I thank God for you and for your warm & loving style of “Good old fashioned preaching”. Thank you for preaching Jesus! Your broadcast each week blesses me and speaks to my heart.
HOUSTON, TEXAS
Would like to have 3 DVD’s of your film, one for my church, one for myself and one for our condominium association to share with all 101 families who live here and can check it out in our library. Thank you.
LINCOLN, NEBRASKA
Greetings from Kinglake, Australia. I watch your program on the Daystar Channel and find you to be a humble and honest ministry. Best Regards & Thank you.
WHITTLESEA, VICTORIA AUSTRALIA
I struggle with sexual lust and I pray that I will be established against it and quote this verse, “I am free from fear, agitating passions and moral conflict and last of all that I will have constant faith in believing God’s Word”.
ROCKLAND, MAINE
I am a believer and disciple of our Lord Jesus. I have seen your ministry on the television on Sundays and would like to request your Bible study, “A New Song” to be sent to me; and your video to my mother “Heart of a Shepherd”. I have been in the Jefferson County Jail since February 1st. Blessings and thank you! God’s Girl!
OSKALOOSA, KANSAS
Thank you for the DVD “Heart of a Shepherd”. It’s a true testimony of God’s faithfulness, mercy and love. I’m going to share it with a friend who is lost and needs to know Jesus.
CHAMPLIN, MINNESOTA
All the absolutely pure and good wishes of God himself—-for your life, family and ministry! Happy 97th birthday! May you long live to witness and experience the rapture by our Lord Jesus Christ—-in your own eyes, and your own body! Amen and Amen! Sorry we forgot—-We love you very much!
HAIFA, ISRAEL
Recently my husband and I were visiting with a local pastor about attending church. We told him that we watched The Christian Worship Hour every week. The pastor then stated that all TV preachers were “false prophets”. We politely told him that we didn’t agree with that statement and ended the visit. But just in case he’s right, you might want to watch out for them TV preachers!!!! LINCOLN, NEBRASKA
My 98 ½ year old mother is somewhat frail and unable to attend church services anymore. Your program has been a Godsend. It allows her to worship in the comfort of her living room. Your nonpartisan, God/Jesus oriented sermons are a relief from those espoused by many of our modern day “politically correct pastors”. Keep up the good work.
COLUMBIA, MISSOURI
For the past 30 years I’ve hesitated to support this ministry figuring it can’t last much longer. I was wrong. You may never quit so here’s a check. Hope all is well with you, that your 97th is followed by many more and that this ministry remains available for a long time.
BELLE FOURCHE, SOUTH DAKOTA
Please send me (2)“Heart of A Shepherd” DVD’s. I make a monthly contribution because your ministry is vitally important and a wonderful mission statement. Have been watching for 5 years on a Wichita, Kansas station. It is the highlight of the week. Pastor and staff are in my daily prayers. Thank you all for your dedication to God’s word.
WICHITA, KANSAS
“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
(Revelation 14:13)
