"A New Song" MARCH 2018

Bible Study

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:

St. Paul sadly tells the Corinthian believers,

“I have fed you with milk, and not with solid food; for to this time ye were not able
to bear it.” I Cor. 3:2.

This causes us to ask, “Are you a bottle fed Christian or one on good, solid meat? Here’s FIVE ways
to find out:

 A MATURE BELIEVER EATS SOLID FOOD. A baby is a beautiful thing; we love them, coddle them, and baby them all over the place. But when that kid gets to be 21 and is still on the baby level, one gets disgusted and he isn’t so cute anymore. That was Paul’s complaint on the Corinthians; they weren’t growing in the Lord. As babies, they didn’t help in the Lord’s work but were really a hindrance in the church. St. John speaks of the stages of growth for believers as, “little children, young men, fathers” (I John 2:14). To grow calls for a Bible study, prayer, service, fellowship with other believers. (Heb. 10:25; II Peter 3:18).
 A MATURE BELIEVER BEARS THE BURDENS OF OTHERS. Satan afflicts the people of God every way he can, so we must respond by helping a hurting brother or sister. One of the main goals of the Christian Worship Hour is to comfort and help God’s people. God told Isaiah to do that, and He has called us also. (Isa. 40:1). Look for those hurting, listen to those who cry, sympathize with those who have lost a loved one, maybe the closest on earth to them has been taken. So, shoulder some of their sorrow and bring a ray of hope into their life. That is what Jesus does. (Matt. 11:30; Galatians 6:2).
 A MATURE BELIEVER HAS A FORGIVING SPIRIT. Mark it down, dear friend, before you get to the end of your journey, someone is going to do you harm! You are going to get hurt. You may be broken hearted. But Jesus told us never to strike back, and to even forgive our enemies! (Matt. 5:44). It’s hard to forgive when you want to strike back. As a matter-of-fact, you cannot forgive by yourself, we have to have the dear Lord’s help and the strength the Holy Spirit gives us. But Jesus tells us to follow His example. Look at what they did to Jesus. My afflictions are little alongside of His! (Luke 23:34).
 A MATURE BELIEVER RADIATES THE LOVE OF CHRIST. As we grow in Christ and live in His Word, we become more like Him. Jesus told us we were to “let your light so shine” that others will come to know God and thus glorify Him. (Matt.5:16). Jesus is the Light of the world and the more Jesus controls our life the brighter we shine for Him. Mature believers shine for Jesus while the baby ones just keep making a pest of themselves! (John 15:13).
 A MATURE BELIEVER PRODUCES THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT. Nine of them are named in Galatians 5:22,23. At the top of the list, because it is by far the most important, is LOVE. It is not puppy love, or money love, or self-love, but the Love of God shed abroad in our heart. Don’t look for it at Wal-Mart because it only comes as we yield and mature in Christ Jesus. The main attribute of God is love and if we are close to Him, His love will shine through! (I Cor. 13). Jesus said that mature Christians show their love. (Luke 10:30-37; John 13:35).
Mature believers have a heart for a lost and hurting world. Lost because they know not Jesus as Savior, and hurting because in this world we will have tribulations. (John 16:33). Thank you for being a part of our team by GIVING liberally; PRAYING fervently; TELLING OTHERS earnestly. You, as God gives through His people, are our only source of support we have. Bless you.
I’ll be looking for you this weekend!
In Our Savior’s Love,

Harold E. Salem, pastor

Letters From Our Viewers

THANK YOU FOR WRITING…
My grandson is visiting from Norway and we listen to your program. My daughter in Norway gets you on the internet. Thanks for not retiring. I’m 86 and still working.
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO

Thank you for preaching the truth about our blessed Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Please also consider preaching about the necessity of the Holy Spirit in us in our daily walk with the Lord. God bless you all.
MCDOWELL, QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA

I have accepted Jesus into my heart! Please send follow-up info.
BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA

Alaska is noted for potatoes, carrots and various berries. Pardon my handwriting as the eyes are fading. Our Lord Jesus knows our every need and our family loves Him. We all accepted Christ one by one after living here. This moose roams the streets of Alaska and always a pleasure to see. God created these animals for us to enjoy for dinner.
WASILLA, ALASKA

A woman came into the waiting room. We got to talking about weather and such, then she mentioned the Bible, and I asked which church she attended. She then said The Christian Worship Hour.
VIRGINIA, MINNESOTA

I was in isolation at the hospital. I was able to worship because of your broadcast on my hospital T.V. It meant the world to me. Sine I have been worshipping with your Bible based service, it has created a need in me to start reading the Bible. God bless you and your crew!
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

My dad enjoys your message every Sunday. He is 100 years old and has a hard time hearing in church. So your TV ministry is a blessing from him. Thank you on behalf of my dad.
BIGFORK, MONTANA

I want you to know you have been a big part of my life. You have been there for me. You have helped me through the hardest part of my life and you still are helping me. Thank you.
DES MOINES, IOWA

God bless you and all your staff. I am 66 years old and received Christ into my heart at 10 years of age as you did. Your program has helped me so much to grow closer to God.
TULSA, OKLAHOMA

Thank you all for being a blessing to the kingdom of God, doing His work “while we can”. May the Christian Worship Hour continue to bear much fruit, good fruit that He be glorified! Amen!
HILO, HAWAII

Your television program is a blessing to me. Your kindness and encouragement have comforted me and deepened my faith. God bless you.
BRONX, NEW YORK

I was born and raised in Switzerland and still have a sister living there. She just turned 90. We have not had any contact since 2000. She recently wrote to me: “If you profess to be a Christian why won’t you forgive me?” I sent her flowers for her birthday and she then called me. We since had 4 lengthy phone calls. Again God answered my prayer—I never felt right about our split, we used to be close.

Memorials

“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
(Revelation 14:13)
