"A New Song" NOVEMBER 2016

Bible Study

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:

When we come to the month of November, we automatically think about Thanksgiving and being thankful. We are always thankful people, but it seems that we are more so in November. So as we think about the matter of being thankful, please read PSALM ONE HUNDRED, and then these observations on, “THE WAYS TO THANK GOD.”

  • MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE TO THE LORD
vs. 1. Not just a noise—the politicians do that for us; but a joyful noise. You know like football fans do when their team makes a touchdown! God is so good to us, we need to let Him know that we realize that “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights” (James 1:17).
  • SERVE THE LORD WITH GLADNESS
vs 2. Nothing is more ridiculous than a gloomy-gus Christian half-heartedly thanking God. Some of God’s people are so glum they make a long-faced mule look happy! How do you think our Father in Heaven feels when He hears us moaning and groaning instead of rejoicing in our salvation and busy doing His work with joy and gladness. (Ps. 118:24).
  • SING TO GOD
vs 2. When I sing, some people look cross-eyed at me, but God knows my heart-I mean well even if I sound bad. If Jesus is in our heart, we will sing His praises one way or another. (Col. 3:16) And you know what? When we get to heaven, we are going to sing the praises of our Lord so we had better practice up here. (Rev. 4:11; 5:12).
  • ACKNOWLEDGE GOD
vs 3. That is, praise Him for Who He is. Always remember, He is the One Who created us. We didn’t come from some ape, but we came from the hand of God and the breath of God! So we turn to God in repentance, prayerfully receive His Son Jesus into our heart and life, and become a Child of God! (Psalm 100:3; John 5:24).
  • BE THANKFUL TO GOD
vs 4. Have you ever thought about how good God is? For instance, the very breath we breathe is a gift from God; every heartbeat is a gift from God. And in things spiritual, our most precious possession, our soul, is saved because this wonderful God gave His Son to be our Savior. (John 3:16).
  • PRAISE GOD FOR WHO HE IS
vs. 4 David wrote about that when he said, “What is man, that thou art mindful of him?” (Ps 8:4). In other words, David is saying, “God, you are so great and mighty and awesome in power and might, why would you ever even so much as think about puny man.” But God did not only think about us, He gave His precious Son for us. How can we but praise Him! (Psalm 148:1-5).
  • BLESS GOD’S NAME
vs 4. Revere the Holy Name and thank God for Who He is. Let us bow down before Him in adoration and praise. (Ps 8:4). Just think—He loved us so much He gave us His Son, the Son of God; God himself. Sing His praises and honor His Name. (Psalm 103:1,2).
  • WE PRAISE GOD FOR YOU
I know some of you are having hard times, but we still have God. I am a child of the Great Depression. I know how we struggled and went without a lot of things, but we always had God Who helped us through. We are thankful for you and your support. Some ministries have had to cut back, but so far we have met all our bills on time. Please pray and stand by us as best you can. It is all for the glory of God. (Psalm 6:7-9).

In our Savior’s Love,

Harold E. Salem, Pastor

Letters From Our Viewers

I thank you for helping to save my husband with you message on TV. The Lord has touched his heart and made him a good and thankful man. My parents watched you in the nursing home. You touch many in the nursing homes across the US and the world.

WATERTOWN, SOUTH DAKOTA

Christian greetings to you for your ministry. I watch you every Saturday on DayStar. I want to personally say that your words have encouraged me when I have been feeling down and overwhelmed. Your ministry has uplifted. Blest be God’s Holy Name because Jesus first loved us.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK

I did say a prayer asking Jesus to come into my heart. Would enjoy learning more in layman’s terms. Could you please send me those brochures you spoke of? A work in progress.

HAMILTON, MONTANA

I said the sinners prayer with the pastor on the T.V. It has been a great experience. Please continue to pray for me and my family. Thank you.

ROTON, TEXAS

I want some peace in my life and I keep trying to fill my void with alcohol and friends that drink with me. I know the only one who can fill the void and emptiness is the Lord Jesus Christ. I just can’t seem to conquer the alcoholism. Please send me the literature and pray for me to get this devil and his demons away from me.

DEVILS LAKE, NORTH DAKOTA

Thank you loyal servant——you “lift up” our hearts and faith during our “old age” years! Bless you! Keep strong with your devotions.

SPEARFISH, SOUTH DAKOTA

My mother (86) is watching you now and she is truly a different person. Thank you my dear pastor.

GOLDSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA

I love listening to you explain about Jesus and the teachings from the Bible. You have led me on my journey Thank you again for your phone call on April 19th, 2015 when thru you I accepted the Lord into my heart and became a born again Christian that has been one of the greatest days of my life. I am very active in my church and never miss your program on Sunday before I go to church. Thank you again for all your help and literature over the last 14 months and God bless you and all your wonderful staff for everything you do for all of us. Bless you all.

THOMPSON FALLS, MONTANA

I am having a bad, bad time in my life but I asked Jesus in my heart and I watch you every Sunday Morning..

CANTON, ILLINOIS

Good evening sir. With love from Nigeria Africa.

FACEBOOK MESSAGE

I continue to watch your sermons on Sunday morning in the activity room. I have encouraged a few women to watch with me on Sunday. Well, I am now helping you to win them to Jesus Christ.

BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA

“It cost to follow Jesus Christ, but it costs more not to”..

WORTHING, SOUTH DAKOTA

I wanted to thank you for all your service. I also wanted to thank you for bringing Jesus into everyone’s life regardless of what they have done.

ALBA, MICHIGAN

Thank God you are still preaching God Truth—salvation for the unbelievers and hope and encouragement for the hurting. The other morning during devotions I was reading Jesus’ words to Peter “feed my sheep”. I thought of how your ministry feeds Christ’s sheep. It is my joy to help in a small way each month. I rejoice over each addition of stations—even more sheep to feed.
