God's Harvest
Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:
“The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few. Pray ye,
therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers
into the harvest.” Matthew 9:37,38
From the writings of Pastor Salem:
Jesus talked about the harvest:
v JESUS SAID THAT THE HARVEST IS GREAT. That is, there are many to be brought in to the Savior. There are so many who are outside of Christ that you cannot count them. They are like the sand of the sea, the stars in the sky, the leaves in the forest, or the grass of the field. Jesus likened the lost to the kernels of wheat in the great harvest fields of the world—like, say, China. Pray that part of that harvest will be brought to the Savior.
v JESUS SAID THE HARVEST IS VALUABLE. This precious harvest is of tremendous value. Jesus did not compare it with gems of the mine, the pearls of the sea, or the gold from the hills. No, He compares it to wheat, precious wheat, more valuable than silver or gold. How so, you ask? Well, for supper tonight how about trying a dish of gold coins. Personally, I’ll take a bowl of cereal made of wheat. Wheat and corn, most precious thing on earth to a starving man. What value is a soul? Jesus shed His blood for that soul. It is worth more than money can buy. (Matthew 16:26).
v JESUS SAID THE HARVEST IS IN DANGER. Harvest time is almost over. The fields are filled with precious grain, but so few to bring it in. To make it worse, there are other fields also. The season is getting far along, the autumn damps and dews are already upon them and the chilly, frosty night that are the vanguard of winter is in the air. Mildew is spoiling much of the grain while other parts are shattered and fallen to the ground. What heartache! Precious souls are going into eternity every day, every hour, and there is no one to reach them. Danger, well I guess so! (Mark 8:36,37).
v JESUS SAID THE HARVEST IS READY. “They are white already to harvest” (John 4:35). We have the idea that everyone is going to be offended if we tell them about Jesus, whereas the fact may well be your neighbor is waiting for you to talk to him. When the field is harvested, the great combines go to the fields; the fields don’t come to them! I am thankful to God that someone came to me when I was 10 years old and told me about Jesus. It is time for us to turn off the TV and go out into the highways and the byways with the good news of the gospel. (Luke 14:23).
v JESUS SAID HE NEEDED WORKERS. Jesus said that “the laborers are few.” (Matthew 9:37). Have you ever thought of this—Jesus could have called millions of angels to go out and tell others! And they would have gladly done it for they always obey Jesus. But no, Jesus wants the redeemed, those who have been washed white in the blood of the Lamb, to carry the good news and bring in a lost world. Laborers, not the lazy, not the sluggard, not the indolent but the man, the woman, with a burning heart for the lost. Those who go down into the fields and into the wheat, brother, sister, you can’t do that from a lazy-boy rocker in the front room! (Psalm 126:5,6).
v JESUS NEVER SAID IT WOULD BE EASY. Satan is constantly fighting to keep the harvest in this fold. He is strong and he is cunning, but Jesus is greater than the devil any day, and if we go out into the harvest fields, many will be brought into the loving arms of Jesus. (I John 4:4).
So, please join us in prayer. The Christian Worship Hour sends the Gospel all over the world via television, internet (CWH.org), and short-wave radio. Did you know that short wave radio reaches 17 nations, 3.8 billion people which is approximately 48% of the world’s population? Praise the Lord!
God bless you.
In our Savior’s love,
Pastor Salem
