“A PASTOR’S PRAYER FOR HIS PEOPLE”
Dear Friend in Ministry:
From the writings of Pastor Salem:
Do you ever wonder what I think about every week when I get up to preach? We don’t know each other--you can see me on TV, but I cannot see you---so I have no idea what you look like, where you live, how you worship, or who you are. But none of that really matters. Long before I get up to preach, I pray. And what do I pray?
v I PRAY THAT ALL WILL BE SAVED. We have a false teaching that since God created us, He is our Father and everyone is His child. That is not true, God created the cattle on a thousand hills, but that does not make them His children. (Psalm 50:10). Jesus taught, as clear as a bell, that a person must be born again (John 3:3) and if not born again, they would be lost forever! (John 1:12). St. Paul prayed that Israel might be saved (Romans 10:1), so I pray that every listener to the Christian Worship Hour will also be saved.
v I PRAY THAT ALL WILL GROW IN GRACE. When we accept Jesus into our hearts and lives, we are born again, that is, we are placed in the Body of Christ. (I Corinthians 12:13). But when we start the Christian walk, we are spiritual babies and we have to grow. God wants us to grow into the full stature of Jesus Christ so that, instead of a bunch of whining babies, we have soldiers of the cross conquering the devil’s territory. (Hebrews 5:12-14). That calls for Bible reading and study, witnessing for Christ, being in church if able-bodied, helping others in the cause of Christ.
v I PRAY THAT ALL WILL SERVE JESUS. That is, that everyone who names the Name of Jesus will do something for Him. If you are a shut-in, you can serve Jesus by being sweet, by telling those around you how Jesus helps you. Always be ready to put in a good word for our Lord. (I Peter 3:15). For the able-bodied, help someone in need. Bake them a cake, if you are able to make something fit to eat. Rake some lawns, clean some windows, and serve those you know. And, for goodness sake, help others come to know our Lord.
v I PRAY FOR ALL WHO ARE AFRAID. I know full well that some are afraid of death, and well they should be if they do not personally know the Lord. (Hebrews 10:31). There are all sorts of fears running around the countryside. Fear of old age, fear of poor health, fear of what tomorrow may bring, fear of losing our job, fear of losing a loved one, the list seems endless. So my prayer is that those who worship with us will find faith in the Savior and place all things in His hands. They are loving, nail-pierced hands, and they will bring comfort, if we lean on Jesus. (I Peter 5:7).
v I PRAY THAT WE WILL ALL MEET IN HEAVEN! Won’t it be great when we get to heaven and gather around the throne of God. (Revelation 5:9,10). And though we have not met in this world, we will meet and know each other in the next and better world. We will meet, and know all the saints of the ages, and those who worshipped around the CWH because we worshipped Jesus, we will be drawn closer to each other in the celestial land. So, take heart teammate, and help us carry on for Christ. (Revelation 21:3-7).
v I PRAY FOR THE FAMILIES OF ALL WHO WORSHIP WITH US. We get so many letters from so many needs, physical, emotional, health, and spiritual needs. We pray for all the parents, grandparents, for their children having problems. (Matthew 11:28,29). God told us to “Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.” (Isaiah 40:1).
v I PRAY THAT THE CHRISTIAN WORSHIP HOUR WILL FIND a place in the heart of all who worship with us that will cause everyone to pray that our Father in heaven will bless and use this ministry to His glory. That He will lay it upon the hearts of His people to provide for the needs of this ministry (II Corinthians 9:6-8) which depends entirely upon the faithful support of God’s people. (Philippians 4:19).
God bless you.
In our Savior’s love,
Pastor Salem
