"A New Song" May 2024

Bible Study

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:

Many people call John 3:16 the greatest verse in the Bible; if it is not, it is surely one of the greatest. Look at it!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

From the writings of Pastor Salem:

Why is the greatest verse in the Bible; Because it has-----

v The Greatest Lover, “GOD”. No one can argue the fact that God has the greatest, biggest, heart with which to love us. For an exercise in futility, try to describe the bigness of God.

v The Greatest Degree, “SO LOVED”. It is beyond human comprehension to describe or understand the love of God toward us. Our love is human and fickle; God’s love is beyond measure or description. (Romans 8:35-39).

v The Greatest Company, “THE WORLD”. How many billions of people are there in the world? Don’t know? Doesn’t matter. God loves every one of them. No one is left out, that’s just like God! (Romans 11:33).

v The Greatest Act, “THAT HE GAVE”. Most of us give gifts, but none of us ever gave a gift like the Father in Heaven when He gave all He had, His only Son. Can you imagine such a gift? (II Corinthians 9:15).

v The Greatest Gift, ‘HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON”. God could have given the silver, gold, and precious stones of the world and it would have cost Him nothing. When He gave His Son, it cost Him EVERYTHING! (Romans 8:32).

v The Greatest Opportunity, “THAT WHOSOEVER”. Want to try something? Try to think of someone who is not included in the ‘whosoever’! There is no one so deep in sin but that they can come to Jesus if they want to. (Revelation 22:17).

v The Greatest Simplicity, “BELIEVETH”. Even little children can believe in the Lord Jesus. If you do not believe today, it is because you are too stubborn or proud to call upon His Name.

v The Greatest Attraction, “IN HIM”, Jesus Christ is the most beautiful Person the world has ever known and, as we walk with Him, He becomes more beautiful and loving every day. Every Christian says amen! (Song of Solomon 2:1).

v The Great Promise, “SHOULD NOT PERISH”. You know what, no one can promise you salvation from hell except Jesus Christ. There are all sorts of promises, but the only one that counts is Jesus’ Promise to save us if we accept Him. (John 5:24).

v The Greatest, “BUT”, What a difference Jesus makes, the difference between life and death, heaven and hell, joy and sorrow. Aren’t you glad Jesus came and someone told you about Him? (Psalm 40:3). Aren’t you glad you opened your heart to Him?

v The Greatest Certainty, “HAVE”. Our salvation is not a ‘hope so’ ‘guess so’ or ‘wait and see’ salvation. It is a ‘know so’. St. John tells us that Jesus and God both hold us in their hands. (John 10: 27-29; John 3:36; II Timothy 1:12; I John 5:12,13).

v The Greatest Possession, “EVERLASTING LIFE”. On Earth, we may get 60 - 70 years, more or less. When we receive eternal life through Jesus, we live forever. (John 1:12; John 3:16; John 3:36, John 5:24).

Isn’t that a wonderful scripture? The whole world needs to hear it, and that is what the Christian Worship Hour is all about, telling the good news of the gospel which goes into all the world!

God bless you!

In our Savior’s love,

Pastor Salem
