Great Promises of God

Bible Study

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:

Guess what!  We found a wonderful treasure chest and it is filled with the most valuable items you can imagine.  Let us share them with you.  They are all found in the fourth chapter of Philippians.

From the writings of Pastor Salem:

v THE JOY OF THE LORD TO ENCOURAGE US.  “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice”.  vs 4.  That means we are to be happy and rejoicing in the Lord, no matter what.  When we are on cloud nine, or when we are down in the dumps, we rejoice in our God.  How can we do that?  Keep our eyes on Jesus.  When Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he walked on the water.  When he took his eyes off of Jesus and looked at the tempest, he began to sink.  (Matthew 14:28-31).

v THE PRIVILEGE OF PRAYER TO COMFORT US.  “Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known unto God”. vs 6.  The reason some of us have so many complications and complaints is because we are carrying the burden alone.  Jesus will help us if we let Him.  (Matthew 11:28-30).  Next time you are overwhelmed with problems, give them to Jesus!

v THE PEACE OF GOD TO KEEP US.  “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” vs 7.  There are a lot of irritable people running around the countryside, and you know why they are irritable?  Because they are not at peace with God.  Get right with God and we will be able to live with you!  (Isaiah 57:20, 21).  That peace of God also keeps and helps us when we have tough times.  We have to learn to lean----and the sooner the better!

v THE PRESENCE OF GOD TO CALM US.  “Not that I speak in respect of want:  for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content”. vs 11.  We live in a society that is in a dither trying to get ahead of the Joneses.  God tells us to do the best we can and leave the rest to Him.  If we follow that advice, we will be like the sheep settled down and satisfied.  (Psalm 23:2, Hebrews 13:5).  Our soul will find a resting place.

v THE POWER OF GOD TO STRENGTHEN US.  “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”.  vs 13.  That doesn’t mean we can fly to the moon, but it does mean that God will supply everything we need to carry out His will for our life.  God leads us along, all through life, and if we walk with Him we will have the means and strength for everything that comes our way!  That’s the way St. Paul lived his life.  (Philippians 1:6, 21; Philippians 2:12, 13; Philippians 3:10).

v THE PROMISE OF GOD TO PROVIDE FOR US.  “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” vs 19.  Look at that!  God has all power, there is nothing beyond Him, He is the First and the Last-----this wonderful God tells us that He will take care of His children through our dear Lord Jesus.  We have our worries, losing our job, family matters, old age, sickness, you name it and whatever it is, it is never too big for our Father in Heaven.  (II Corinthians 12:9,10).

So there is the wonderful treasure.  Jesus said, “Go, and do thou likewise.”  (Luke 10:37).  We need to share this good news with others.  And that is what the Christian Worship Hour is doing; we share the gospel with the whole world.

But you know what?  We need help.  We need you.  Three ways:  PRAY, that is the most important.  Some of you are shut-ins, but you are not shut-out, you can approach the throne of grace on equal footing with all the rest!  (Hebrews 4:16).  GIVE.  We are leaving this up to you and God.  Give as He lays it upon your heart.  If we ever get more than we need, we will take on another station and reach more people with the gospel.  TELL OTHERS. Word of mouth is the best advertising.  If the service has helped you, then share that with others.  Thank you all.

God bless you!

In our Savior’s love,

Pastor Salem

“HEART OF A SHEPHERDthe extraordinary life of Harold E. Salem”, is an inspiring DVD which tracks Pastor Salem’s life from birth in Belle Fourche, South Dakota through his 74 years of ministry.  It speaks of his life growing up, his mother being the biggest influence in his life, how he learned about the love of God and how that prepared him to make the decision to trust and follow Jesus.

This is the heartwarming, inspiring story of what God can do when just one person accepts his call.
