"A New Song" March 2024

Bible Study

Pastor Salem’s desire was to tell the world of the saving grace of Jesus Christ and to encourage believers in their faith.  It is our hope this classic New Song Bible Study from the writings of Pastor Salem will be a blessing to you.

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:

Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

He was buried and that He rose again the third day

according to the scriptures.”  I Corinthians 15:3,4.

Those are all historical facts, not fiction, but cold, hard facts.  Facts you can hang your hat on, facts that never fail.  Here are four great facts about Christ:

From the writings of Pastor Salem:

v HE DIED.  Yes, He literally died.  The Son of God was dead if you can imagine it.  He was crucified and, in scarcely three hours, He was dead.  It happened so fast that, “Pilate marveled” that He was already dead.  (Mark 15:44).  Why did He not linger on, as did some who were crucified that might live days on the cross?  Well, He gave up His spirit almost immediately because He had completed His work, that is, He had shed His precious blood for our sins.  The work of redemption was completed, “bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.”  (John 19:30).  What a glorious death it was because it opened the doors of heaven for all who receive Him.  (John 5:24).

v HE ROSE.  Yes, He was literally raised from the dead and now lives forever as our Great High Priest.  It is a fact of history.  The angel of God declared to the three women at the tomb that first Easter Sunday Morning, “He is risen!  He is not here”. (Mark 16:6).  And, because He lives, we live also.  After the rapture, out in the cemetery, those left behind will discover, “He or she, is not here---they have risen,” Wow!  What a victory!  Victory over the Devil and over death.  The greatest battle ever fought was won by Christ our Lord.  So take heart, the body of your loved one out there in the graveyard will be raised just like Christ was raised.  (I Thessalonians 4:13-18).

v HE LIVES.  And because He lives, we have a High Priest in heaven interceding for us.  When you are lonely, or hurting, or sick, or out of a job, or sinking in some sin---just remember that Jesus at the right hand of God, is interceding for you, just as He did for Peter before Peter sinned so grievously.  (Luke 22:31).  So He prays for us continually.  (Hebrews 7:25).  And that is not all, He is also the Good Shepard who watches over His sheep.  He knows us and He knows all about us.  (Hebrews 4:15).  He has not only counted the hairs of the bald-headed, he counts the hairs of your eyebrows, bushy or not.  Imagine, losing one measly hair, and a number is missing! (Matthew 10:30).

v HE COMES.  He is coming again.  Listen to Jesus, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself.”  (John 14:3).  He will come again.  It may be in death that He comes for us, or He may come in the clouds of the sky to take us to be with Him forever---either way is fine with me!  (I Thessalonians 4:13-18).  And, we are going to get a glorious, new body like our Lord’s resurrected body.  St. Paul speaks to that when he writes, “For this corruptible must put on incorruption (the dead in Christ) and this mortal must put on immortality (those alive in Christ and caught up in the air).  (I Corinthians 15:53).

That is why the Christian Worship Hour is in existence, to tell the whole world the facts about Jesus Christ.  So, we pray that you will join us and help us.  PRAY regularly for this ministry.  TELL your friends.  GIVE as God leads.  Pray and ask God what He wants you to do.  We have great needs, but we also have a great God.  Thanks for your help.

May God bless you!

                                                                                                                                                                                  In our Savior's love,
