"A New Song" DECEMBER 2016

Bible Study

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:

The apostle Peter instructs us,

With December comes Christmas and the giving of gifts. St. Paul tells us that God gave the first Christmas Gift stating, “Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable Gift.” II Cor. 9:15.

So there we have the first Christmas Gift; the Gift of the Son of God! And in the giving of that Gift, He gave us many other gifts. Let me mention only four out of millions!

  • GOD GAVE US THE GIFT OF SALVATION
We were all in the same boat—poor, lost sinners on the road to hell. (Romans 3:23). To make matters worse, there was nothing we could do about it. Our good works, what few we had of them, were in God’s sight like a pile of dirty old rags! (Isa 64:6). To add to the problem was the fact that we had all rebelled against God and were in the enemies’ camp! (Rom 5:10). But God, Who is rich in mercy, made a way of escape for us. Eph. 2:4-7. He sent His Son Who became one of us, except without sin, and paid for our sins with His own blood (Heb. 9:22). He rose from the dead (Matthew 28: 6) so that if we call upon His Name, we will have salvation. (Romans 10:13). That’s one Gift He gave us.
  • GOD GAVE US THE GIFT OF JOY
Well I guess so! MARY had joy. God had chosen her to bear the MESSIAH. Luke says, “her spirit rejoiced in God her Savior.” (Luke 1:46, 47). JOSEPH obeyed the angel and found joy. (Matt. 1:24). The ANGELS rejoiced as they filled the sky with praises. The SHEPHERDS abandoned their flocks and went rejoicing to Bethlehem in haste. The MAGI, perhaps a thousand miles away, were rejoicing as they gathered their costly gifts and mounted their camels. Shortly thereafter, ANNA, a prophetess over a hundred years old, rejoiced (Luke 2: 36-68). And the old prophet, SIMEON rejoiced as he held the infant. And now, year 2016, we are filled with joy over that wonderful gift of salvation! (II Cor. 9:15).
  • GOD GAVE US THE GIFT OF PEACE
There was a time I was very dissatisfied; no rest, no contentment, no peace. (Isaiah 57:20). When I accepted His Son as my Savior, God gave me peace at heart. Jesus said He would give us peace when we came to Him. (John 14:27). Because I made peace with God, I found peace with myself and my neighbors. You can get a lot of things out in the world, but we can get peace only in and through the Savior. (Philippians 4: 6, 7).
  • GOD GAVE US THE GIFT OF HOPE
I’ve heard it said, “Where there is life, there is hope,” but that is dead wrong. It should be, “Where there is Jesus, there is hope.” As a matter of fact, there is hope only in the Savior. When God gave us the Gift of His Son, He gave us the hope of heaven and home; (John 14:6) the assurance of seeing our loved ones in Christ who have gone on ahead. Face to face we will talk with them again and draw them close to us! You may get a lot of gifts this Christmas, but they will all look like trash over and against the home God has prepared for those who love Him. (I Cor. 2:9).

As I am writing this letter, I am thinking to myself—God gave His Gift to the whole world, and you know what? The CHRISTIAN WORSHIP HOUR is presenting that Gift to the whole world! You know we preach Christ crucified as the ONLY way of salvation in every sermon! But we can’t do it alone nor can you do it alone. As you give and pray and as I preach the best I can, we can, like the angels of old, bring Christ to the World! Just ask the Lord what He wants you to do and, be it little or large, we will have enough to carry the glorious gift of God to the whole world. (Philippians 4:19).

God bless you, each one.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

In our Savior’s Love,
Harold E. Salem, Pastor

Letters From Our Viewers

Keep up your amazing work. You are not a megachurch, your set is not flashy, you do not have a huge orchestra, but those things are SO unimportant! You are obviously called by God and doing His important work! You’ll never know, this side of heave, how many you have touched. Keep on, keep on, keep on!

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI

I’ve prayed asking the Lord to come into my heart and into my life as my Savior, but I don’t know if I’m praying properly or I don’t know how to realize that He’s answering. It’s hard for me to get up and down to pray. I used to pray laying in bed, but I didn’t think that was the proper way.

SIDNEY, IOWA

I have asked Jesus to be in my heart and pray that God will forgive me. But I don’t know, I pray to a God first and then pray to Jesus because I’m not sure if my prayers will reach God unless it’s through Jesus. I know Jesus died for my sins so I always end by asking Jesus to speak to our father. I love my Savior and my God. I hope and pray you can understand what I’m asking. Please pray for me. God bless you.

FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA

Thank you for allowing me to add my small gift to your work in spreading the gospel to this hungry world. I can’t imagine my life without the peace of Christ in my heart and the power and strength I get from His word. May God bless all of you and your work. I look forward to seeing you in our forever home.

OMAHA, NEBRASKA

Thank you for being a shining light in the darkness of this world! In Christ’s love.

COLUMBUS, NEBRASKA

Thank you for your program. I love every bit of it. Keep going. I’m 84 years and I want to be an answer to my mother’s prayers. I was the worst kid. Also my grandparents that took my sister and I in when our dad left (my mother’s health broke when daddy left). I want them to know their work was not in vain.

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO

Anyone who can survive without selling books or putting on performances has to be blessed of God. Keep up the good work. It’s working. With thanks and a prayer.

HOPKINS, MINNESOTA

Just letting you know I got saved watching your program. I asked Jesus to forgive my sins and enter my heart during your program July 30th. I’ve joined a wonderful church full of beautiful people. They preach Jesus and we worship Him. Well God bless you and your program. Faithful Friend.

NORTH HIGHLAND, CALIFRONIA

Just a short note to let you know how much we really appreciate your good ole Gospel preaching and the saving Grace of Jesus! We pray for you and your staff and ministry every day! We thank you for your prayer for us! Someday we’ll all meet in heaven and talk over old times! Right? Take care—-Your Old Cowboy Friend

OLIVET, SOUTH DAKOTA

Please help me find the way. My ways are the wrong ways. I have the program “Celebration Under the Silverdome”. I pray I “GET IT”. I hope you understand what I mean. I am a lost sheep and want the Lord to take my life and show me the way to live. Your program said that if I write you, you would send me information. I cry as I write this because I need help. I need to know what to do. I’m so lost and lonely. Please help me and tell me what I should do. Please help me find the way to God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit and quit the drugs and smoking. I pray that I hear back from you. Thank you.

COMMERCE CITY, COLORADO

If the money does dry up, God forgive, call me sir and I will go for surety.

ADRIAN, MISSOURI

Dear Pastor Salem, HI! How are you? I am 9 years old. My family has been watching your service for a couple of years. I like to play chess so I liked it when you said “the King and the pawn go in the same box.” I am sending a donation of $15.00. I am also sending a picture that I drew. Your program is good! Keep up the good work. Sincerely.

NATOMA, KANSAS
