"A New Song" JANUARY 2020

Bible Study

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:

First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Let me give you 8 reasons from Philippians chapter four why we should
be happy, rejoicing people. No matter what!

 WE HAVE THE JOY OF THE LORD TO LIFT US. “Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I say, Rejoice.” (vs.4). So God commands us to rejoice. St Paul tells us how we can do that, even though the world seems to be going to the dogs. He says, “Rejoice in the Lord.” When we love Jesus and lean upon Him, we know that He will work all things out for good. (Rom. 8:28). We can always rejoice because we have Jesus!
 WE HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF PRAYER TO SUPPORT US. “Be anxious for nothing.” (vs. 6). That is, don’t worry and fret. For one thing, you can’t change anything anyway, so relax, tell it to Jesus and leave things in His hands. He has all power; He can handle it!
 WE HAVE THE PEACE OF GOD TO KEEP US. “And the peace of God…shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (vs.7). You know what, when we are not at peace with God we are at war with everybody around us! Such people ought to be quarantined. Confess your sins to Jesus, lean upon Him, and the God of peace will bring peace into your heart. It never fails. (John 14:27).
 WE HAVE THE PRESENCE OF GOD TO ACCOMPANY US. “The God of peace shall be with you.” (vs. 9). Some of you live alone, like I do. Did I say “alone?” We are never alone. God has promised that He would “never leave us or forsake us”, (Heb. 13:5). God always keeps His Word, so just rejoice and talk to Him (it’s o.k. to talk out loud to the Lord if you are alone) so go ahead, talk! (Matt. 28:29).
 WE HAVE THE PATTERN OF OTHERS BEFORE US. “Your care of me hath flourished again.” (vs.10). God brings others into our life to help and encourage us, even as we encourage others. Be friendly to all those about you, be an example of how Jesus would act, and thank God for all those who have gone before us who loved Jesus. (Heb. 12:1).
 WE HAVE THE POLICY OF CONTENTMENT TO CALM US. “I have learned, in whatever state I am, therewith to be content.” (vs.11). Be content with what we have. Don’t be like some of the rich; they are always trying to get more and more. (James 4:1-3). If we have Christ, we have all we need, so, like the young people say, “cool it”. (Col. 3:11).
 WE HAVE THE POWER OF CHRIST TO STRENGTHEN US. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (vs.13). Be careful, we can’t claim this promise and then try to fly to the moon. The secret is, I can do all things through Christ if it is in the will of God! So, let’s be sure we know His will, and then when we do, move on even if it means moving a mountain! (Heb. 11:3).
 WE HAVE THE PROMISE OF GOD TO PROVIDE FOR US. “My God shall supply all your need.” (vs.19). Watch out. God isn’t telling us He will supply every want we have because many times we want things we don’t need! If my little grandson wants to play with my razor, he has a want but not a need. So we learn to leave things in God’s hands and pray, “Thy will be done.” (Matt. 6:10; Eph. 1:18).
So, let me say it again, HAPPY NEW YEAR! And it can be just that if we are walking with the Lord. And who knows, 2020 might be a very special year because it just might be the year Jesus will come again!

And, oh yes, keep praying and giving. If you stop, we close shop!

Be looking for you this weekend—-

In our Savior’s Love,

Harold E. Salem, Pastor

Letters From Our Viewers

THANK YOU FOR WRITING…
I have searched and still have not found a Bible teaching church. They must be as rare as a blue unicorn?
OVERLAND PARK, KANSAS

I am not worthy of God’s forgiveness, because I seem to always fall back into sin.
KINGSLEY, MICHIGAN

I do watch your (Daystar). You preach the old-time Gospel we used to hear long ago—and you always use your Bible!
MIDDLEBURY, CONNECTICUT

I am thankful to our Heavenly Father for your program!! It is always so comforting to hear Pastor Salem on Saturday afternoons on Daystar TV here in Texas! God bless you all!!
HOUSTON, TEXAS

I love your services about our sweet Jesus.
CEDAR, MINNESOTA

I want to start a Bible study on our pod here, so, can you please send me some information. I’m glad your sermons are from the “Word of God”. I used to listen to you at home on my reservation across or on the other side of the state of Montana. Can you please pray for me to go home soon? Pray for my brothers, sisters, children and all of the ladies and staff at this prison. Thank you and love you. I love Jesus with all my heart and more.
BILLINGS, MONTANA

95 and holding on to Jesus.
BREMERTON, WASHINGTON

I am sending a little gift to you. It has been a while since I wrote or sent anything to you. I was in prison for 5 years, released 9-11-17. Been out of prison since then. I thank God for that. I really enjoy your program.
FORT SCOTT, KANSAS

Your work is important to the Lord and to the people. I asked God how much to send and He put his number, the amount, in my head. I love the Lord and I love what you are doing! God bless you all.
POPLAR, WISCONSIN

So glad I found your service a few years ago on TV. Thanks to you I was saved and now know God and Jesus. God bless you and your staff.
DODGE CITY, MINNESOTA

Please accept this cheque on behalf of programe. God bless you.
GUERNSEY, CHANNEL ISLANDS

I heard your program on TV last Sunday morning, and just wanted to write you a note to thank you for your faithfulness in ministering over the years. You mentioned that you were 98 years old. I am 88 years old and still preaching as the Lord opens doors. We can be real encouragement to younger men who are going through difficult times. I said to myself, “if that brother can keep on preaching at 98, you can keep on for at least another 10”. Then, the thought came to me, there are undoubtedly some younger men that need encouragement. I surrendered to preach, until the Lord takes me home. I believe He is coming soon, so I will be serving with you until we are, “caught up” at His coming. Keep looking up!
