"A New Song" June 2020

Bible Study

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:

“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3) This means:

 GOD SEES US WHEN WE SERVE HIM. That service may be preaching from a pulpit or witnessing from a sick bed. We all can serve the Lord in one way or another. The little widow woman who “threw in two mites, which makes a farthing” honored God throughout the world for all time! (Mark 12:44). When we give our service to God we never know how far it will go! (Dan. 12:3).

 GOD SEES US WHEN WE CRY. Sometimes the tears come running down our cheeks while the heart nearly breaks. Maybe a loved one is taken or sorrows stack up before us, no matter what, God sees it and knows all about it. We may be like the Children of Israel in Egypt, they thought God had forgotten them, but not so, He knew all about their sorrows. (Exodus 3:7).

 GOD SEES US WHEN WE ARE TEMPTED. We all have our temptations and Satan never gives up on us–even King Solomon, in his old age, was tempted, and failed! So Jesus prays for us when the devil wants to get us to fall. Jesus is a wonderful high priest “set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens.” (Heb. 8:1). And when we fail, Jesus freely forgives us. (1 John 1:9).

 GOD SEES US WHEN WE ARE DISCOURAGED. Some of these super-duper Christians say we must never become discouraged, but some of the greatest believers in all the world became discouraged, like the mighty prophet Elijah who was so discouraged he wanted to die out in the wilderness under a juniper tree! (I Kings 19:4-8). God sees us when we become downhearted and whispers to us, “be of good cheer: I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33).

 GOD SEES US WHEN WE ARE LONELY. Ever been lonely? Not much fun is it? But it isn’t so hard to take when we realize that God’s Eye is ever upon us. He will never forsake us, no matter what happens. (Hebrews 13:5). The Psalmist marvels at the presence of the Lord. (Psalm 139:1-24). Know what? When we have Jesus, we are never alone.

 GOD SEES US WHEN WE COME TO DIE. There comes a time for all of us when we have to say ‘good-bye’ to everyone—everyone that is, except Jesus because He never leaves us or forsakes us. David spoke of that when he said, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: FOR THOU ART WITH ME.” (Psalm 23:4). So, if Jesus is with us, it is never a bad day. As a matter-of-fact, death will be a wonderful experience for the believer, so wonderful that the Psalmist calls it “precious!” (Psalm 116:15). Maybe that is why St. Paul said, “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is GAIN.” (Philippians 1:21).

Yes, indeed, “the eyes of the Lord are in every place.” Praise God! (Psalm 139:1-12).

We have a wonderful hope in Jesus. But how about the multitudes on the broad road that leads to destruction—they do not know Christ! So the ministry and the message, the one message alone, is that Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world and that the world can come to Him if they want. Our responsibility is to get the good news of the gospel out—their responsibility is to believe. Your PRAYERS AND GIFTS make this possible!

God bless you, I’ll be looking for you this weekend.

In our Savior’s Love,

Harold E. Salem, Pastor

Letters From Our Viewers

THANK YOU FOR WRITING…
Can you send me seven ways to get to Heaven? Thank you.
GALESBURG, ILLINOIS

I was blessed that the Lord came to me when I was 6 years old in Vacation Bible School. I have had Him with me my whole life.
COLD SPRINGS, MINNESOTA

In today’s sermon, you said we need to tithe more and you told a story about a man who gave his last dollar to the Lord. And you said, never give your last dollar, give your first dollar to the Lord. I am unemployed, but I sell chicken eggs and yesterday I got $5.00 for them. I was going to buy a power-ball ticket with my egg money, but after your sermon on giving I gave my money to Jesus. Thank you for all you do Brother Harold. God loves you and I love you too! Your sister-in-Christ.
GILBERTSVILLE, KENTUCKY

I love the preaching that comes from this ministry, the simplicity and its great clarity. I pray that God will continue to bless Mr. Harold with many good years with the blessing of good health.
BRONX, NEW YORK

This lady called in and requested 3 more Tell Me A Story books. She said she just loves her book and wants to give one to each of her three children. She also said she loves it so much it is right next to her Bible.
BREMERTON, WASHINGTON

I was very disappointed and feeling like the world was against me and then I read your last “list” about discouragement and I think I could change my life. I just have to read it over and over. Thank you, brother Salem.
SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA

I’m all alone now, lost my son and husband. I just wait for your program all week. Without it I would still be in the dark. I read the New Song over and over. It helps me keep going.
SCOTTVILLE, MICHIGAN

I’m a retired Air Force veteran of 90 years of age. I live in Springfield, Missouri and I listen to the Christian Worship Hour every Sunday morning on KSPR. I’m enclosing a donation for the Church mission. So keep on preaching the gospel message of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI

I’m near 75 years old from Minot, N.D. I’ve been a widower for six years now. As a young marine I spent a couple of tours in Viet Nam. Combat is something that you can never really get over. Good memories in life are great, bad ones are hell. I think the good Lord sent me my wife to help me through life. Looking back, I guess she was my guiding angel keeping me between the ditches on life’s road.
MINOT, NORTH DAKOTA

With our service suspended in Pierre, South Dakota, we have recently tuned in to the Christian Worship Hour. I hope you don’t mind that we drink our coffee during the service. God bless you.
PIERRE, SOUTH DAKOTA

I have had a stroke and cannot write or print. Enjoy Christian Worship Hour.
RAPID CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA

With all the virus stuff going on we have been watching your sermons. I am 9 years old and enjoy watching your sermon. I hope we can come visit your church this summer. We got 2 of your DVD’s one for my dad’s dad and my dad for Father’s Day. I accepted Jesus into my heart one year ago. In Christ.
TAOPI, MINNESOTA

Memorials

“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
