"A New Song" May 2020

Bible Study

Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:

The other day I was reading God’s Word warning us that,

“in the last days, perilous times shall come.”  (II Tim. 3:1).

That would frighten me half to death were it not for the promise of Jesus,

                                              “Lo, I am with you…ALWAYS” (Matthew 28:20)

“Be not afraid…for I am with thee.” (Acts 18:9,10)

  • JESUS IS WITH ME EVERY DAY…AS MY SAVIOR. He saved me by shedding His precious blood on the cross and rising from the dead, so my sins are gone forever (Isaiah 1:18).  Because of that act of love on His part, I have a Savior by my side as long as I live.  And, when I come to die, the Savior will be closer than ever to lead me through the valley of the shadow of death.  David said it so well, “I will fear no evil” (Psalm 23:4).  I don’t have the foggiest idea of what the future holds for me, because I know the Good Shepherd has taken away my sins, given me His righteousness, and I am ready for heaven!  Praise God.
  • JESUS IS WITH ME EVERY DAY…AS MY SHEPHERD. Sheep are not the smartest animals on the globe, they are just the opposite.  Have you ever seen sheep do a trick act at the circus?  Forget it.  So, like us, God tells us we go astray (Isaiah 53:6).  But we have the Good Shepherd who loves us, understands us, is patient with us, and leads us safely through the treacherous times and events of this life.  What a wonderful gift from God, Jesus is our Shepherd.  (John 10:27-29).
  • JESUS IS WITH ME, EVERY DAY…AS MY PRIEST. I constantly need help and guidance from God.  I am bombarded by evil thoughts and sights constantly, and it is easy for me to sin—to say one bad word or have one bad thought!  How they come and go.  But when I sin, I have that wonderful High Priest, Jesus, at God’s own right hand and He intercedes for me, He prays for me, He represents me in the very best light before the Father.  (Romans 8:26) (Heb. 4:16).
  • JESUS IS WITH ME EVERY DAY…AS MY FRIEND. I live alone now; my dear BEULAH has gone home to heaven to be with Jesus.  Living alone is a different kind of life for me, especially in the evenings.  Those of us who live alone, and there are a lot of us, can testify to the fact that the presence of Jesus in our home makes a tremendous difference.  As a Friend, Jesus understands and gives us courage and strength because He is there by our side.  (Hebrews 13:5).
  • JESUS IS WITH ME EVERY DAY…I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. He told us to “fear not” and to “cast all our care upon Him” (I Peter 5:7).  No matter what the future may bring, good or evil, Jesus is with us.  He understands our needs and, as our Friend, helps us through the hard times and the good times alike.  (Isaiah 43:25)

So there you have the ministry of the Christian Worship Hour, telling the whole world about Jesus, our Wonderful Lord.  Many respond and are born again, backsliders have come back to Jesus, and God’s people in hard places have found encouragement and help hearing the powerful, wonderful Word of God.

But we need your help, dear friend.  PRAY for our ministry, then ask God what He wants you to GIVE.  We can only go so far as God’s people make it possible.  YOU are our only source of income.  And one more thing, TELL OTHERS about our ministry, of which you are a part.

God bless you, I’ll be looking for you this weekend.

In our Savior’s Love,

Harold E. Salem, Pastor

Letters From Our Viewers

THANK YOU FOR WRITING…

Thank you for reading the letters.  You read one Sunday that hit home.  The one about the lady having an abortion when she was young.  I did the same thing and will you tell that lady, Yes Jesus will forgive you, but the devil will use it against you and try to use your abortion to try to get you to punish yourself and turn you from God.  Tell her she has to first ask God to forgive her and He will, but she has to forgive herself with the help of God to fight the devil trying to throw the abortion up in your face.  I believe that I will get to find out if my baby was a boy or girl—Cinnamon (girl), Eric (boy) in Heaven and say I’m sorry.  It’s a battle yet to forgive myself, but I want to first serve God, second go to Heaven to see my God & Jesus, then to hold my baby I killed—and say I love her or him and I am sorry.  Please tell the lady to forgive herself.  Thank you for reading the letter.  Keep on in God’s service.  A sister in Christ.

MISSOURI

What a blessing you have been!  My teen years were a horrible mess.  I hurt lots of people but you have given me faith again that I’m forgiven.  I’ve spent endless night reliving what I’ve done, but you have helped me but I still have to forgive myself.

HOISINGTON, KANSAS

It’s because of you I gave my life to God.

BRUSH PRAIRIE, WASHINGTON

We, Brother and Sister, received your Word of God.  We prayed and asked Jesus to welcome His salvation into both of our hearts.

SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI

Keep up the great job!  Pray for my health and safety while traveling from Europe and U.S.A. free from Coronavirus, to take care of my 95-year-old mom.  Thank you and God bless.

HEBY, SWEDEN

I enjoy listening to your preaching every Sunday.  You preach warning people to be saved.  We are living in the last days.  Jesus will come soon for us who love Him and live for Him.  I’m 99 years old but the Lord is watching over me.  All my family are in heaven.  I’ll be there too.  I’m longing for Jesus to come.  God bless you and keep preaching.  The world needs to hear the gospel.

CRYSTAL LAKE, ILLINOIS

I watch your service Saturdays on Daystar but I used to listen to you on radio in the Philippines via DZAS.

BELLEVUE, WASHINGTON

I have been watching you for nearly 40 years.  That is on and off from our church.  Now we watch you every Sunday.  Thanks for being a good old country preacher!  We love you.  Keep on keeping on!  God with you.

ORLANDO, FLORIDA

I asked God into my heart the first day I saw you on Sunday morning television.  Excellent job.  Keep up the great work for the Lord.

FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA

I am not worthy of God’s forgiveness because I seem to always fall back into sin.

KINGSLEY, MICHIGAN

I thank God for your worship hour on television.  It’s helped me come to Jesus and many others who live here.

MARSHALLTOWN, IOWA

How thankful we are for your “A NEW SONG”.  These messages are a blessing and I use them to teach a small Bible class.  Is it possible to get more?  Here is a gift to pay for mailing.

Memorials

“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
