“HOW TO SERVE GOD”
From the writings of Pastor Salem:
“Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace,
whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.”
Hebrews 12:28
Here the writer to the Hebrews calls us to service to God. The Bible tells us the kind of service we should give. Here are seven kinds:
v WE SHOULD GIVE GOD EXCLUSIVE SERVICE. That is, He is to be first in our lives in all that we do. Jesus tells us we cannot have two masters at the same time. (Matthew 6:24). Every last one of us is going to serve God or the Devil. If we are not for Jesus, then we are against Him! (Matthew 12:30). It is impossible to be neutral.
v WE SHOULD GIVE GOD CONSECRATED SERVICE. That is, we are totally separated unto God. We are not our own to do as we please, we are not the quarterback calling the plays! Jesus bought us with His own blood, He owns every last bit of us, no wiggle room for our self; it all belongs to the Savior. (II Corinthians 6:17).
v WE SHOULD COUNT IT PRIVILEGED SERVICE. Just think, we are special servants to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! We are His ambassadors, representing Him to all the world. (II Corinthians 5:20). So, we ought to hold our head high and glory in our high calling! (Galatians 6:14). But be careful, to be spiritually proud is a death sentence! (Matthew 23:27). Instead, let us rejoice in our high calling! (I Corinthians 1:26).
v WE SHOULD MAKE IT 24/7 SERVICE. That is, every day all day long as God gives us breath! We should be like old Anna the Prophetess who “served God with fastings and prayers night and day.” (Luke 2:37). The unsaved serve the Devil 24/7 and end in hell, so we serve God 24/7 and end up in heaven! I’m all for it.
v WE SHOULD REJOICE IN OUR SERVICE. What on earth is uglier than a man who claims he knows Jesus and then runs around with a face a foot long! Probably was baptized in dill pickle juice! Instead, let’s be like Nehemiah who shouted out, “the joy of the Lord is your strength!” (Nehemiah 8:10). The more joy, the more strength.
v WE SHOULD NEVER TREMBLE AS WE SERVE. Why should we be afraid when we know our wonderful Jesus is the victor? (Revelation 19:11-16). Satan is defeated, his wicked days are numbered, his end is in sight. But Jesus lives forever as King of Kings, so take heart, get to work, never give up! St. Paul went through hell on earth, but he never gave up. (II Corinthians 11:23-28). You’re going to quit? Better think again!
v WE ARE GOING TO BE REWARDED FOR OUR SERVICE. Can you imagine the thrill it will be when Jesus, our King, tells us, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21). And besides that, Jesus is going to give us a crown, not for being successful, but for being faithful, and all of us can be faithful! (II Timothy 4:8). But best of all will be that moment when we see Jesus, face to face! The veil will be removed; we will see Him in all His Glory!
So, we serve the Savior. One of the greatest ways you can join us in this service is by helping share the wonderful Word of God with the world. How can you help? First and foremost, PRAY for this ministry. Then GIVE as the Lord places it on your heart. And finally, TELL OTHERS about our broadcast so they can join in as well. God bless you for standing with us!
In our Savior’s love,
Pastor Salem

Devotional for the New Year – “Extra Help for the Journey”
from the writings of Pastor Salem…
Scripture: John 16:7
Opening Thought
A new year has arrived – ready or not. We may step into it with excitement, hesitation, or even uncertainty. None of us know what the coming months will hold, and that can feel overwhelming. But we do not walk into this year alone. God sees our uncertainty, understands our worries, and has provided exactly what we need.
The Promise Jesus Gave
As Jesus prepared His disciples for His return to heaven, He explained that trials and difficulties lay ahead. Yet He comforted them with a wonderful promise:
“It is expedient for you that I go away… if I depart, I will send the Comforter unto you.” ---John 16:7
The Comforter, the Holy Spirit, is God’s abiding presence in the life of every believer. He walks with us, strengthens us, and guides us through every situation --- joyful or difficult. Even when life feels uncertain or disappointing, the Holy Spirit whispers hope to our hearts. Jesus’ path to the cross looked like defeat, yet it was the very means of our salvation. He declared:
“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life…” ---John 14:6
Because Jesus died and rose again, we have forgiveness, cleansing, and a restored relationship with God. As Scripture reminds us:
“The blood of Jesus Christ…cleanseth us from all sin.” ---1 John 1:7
This is the foundation of our hope—not our strength, not our plans, but His finished work.
Peace for the Days Ahead
In a world filled with turmoil and spiritual opposition, Jesus offers something the world cannot give:
“In me ye might have peace.” ---John 16:33
And Paul assures us of:
“The peace of God, which passeth all understanding…” ---Philippians 4:7
Through the Holy Spirit, this peace becomes a living reality in our daily walk. He comforts, guides, encourages, and strengthens us every step of the way.
A New Year Invitation
As we begin this year, Jesus invites each of us to come near--- to confess our sins, receive His salvation, and follow Him wholeheartedly.
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life…” ---John 3:36
If Christ is your Savior, you never face a single day alone. His Spirit is with you, leading, comforting, and filling your heart with peace.
Reflection
- What uncertainty or burden am I carrying into this new year?
- How is the Holy Spirit inviting me to trust Him more deeply?
- Where do I need to rest in the peace that only Christ can give?
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. As I step into this new year, quiet my fears and filly my heart with Your peace. Guide my steps, renew my hope, and help me walk closely with You each day. Amen.
