"A New Song" September 2025
The Harvest Is Great
Dear fellow worker of the Christian Worship Hour:
From the writings of Pastor Salem:
I was raised on a farm (proud of it). I have many wonderful memories of the farm, but perhaps the greatest was harvest time. Jesus talked about a harvest, listen to Him:
“Therefore said He unto them, “The harvest is great, but laborers are few:
pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers
into His harvest.” Luke 10:2.
This great challenge tells us:
v THERE IS A GREAT HARVEST BEFORE US. Jesus said it took in the whole world! Jesus also said that His heart ached for that harvest. (Matthew 9:36-38). God the Father valued this harvest so much that He gave His Son so as to bring it in. (John 3:16). Somehow, dear friend, we are going to have to do something, so we see that vast harvest as our Lord sees it. (Matthew 23:37-39).
v THE HARVEST IS READY NOW. On the farm, we didn’t take a vacation at harvest time, just the opposite, we got up early and we worked late (except on Sunday). There was an urgency about it. Jesus tells us that the harvest time for souls is right now, this day, we must not wait a minute. Listen to Jesus, “Say not ye, there are yet four months and then cometh the harvest,” don’t dally around but bring in the lost, the time is now. (John 4:35; II Corinthians 6:2). We must work now!
v THE HARVEST IS VERY VALUABLE. The harvest sure was valuable to us out on the farm; we needed it for the livestock and maybe sold a little to get by. The harvest Jesus is talking about is far more precious than anything we had out on the farm. He is talking about a harvest that is so valuable that Jesus shed His blood to make it possible for that harvest to be brought in. The soul of a person is more valuable than all the world put together, we must bring them in. (Mark 8:36-38).
v THE HARVEST NEEDS WORKERS. It sure won’t come in by itself. The harvest is like a lost sheep (Isaiah 53:6) and believe me; they never come in by themselves! But the tragedy of it all is that God has many children, but not very many laborers! So, Jesus says, “The harvest is truly plenteous, but the laborers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.” (Matthew 9:37, 38). Every one of us needs to be listening, Jesus is calling us to do help in the harvest, but we are too busy with the trinkets of this world to bring the eternal soul of the lost.
v SOME WAYS WE CAN HELP BRING IN THE HARVEST. For one thing we can tell others Jesus saved our soul, what He has done for us. The maniac of Gadara was saved, and he immediately wanted to leave all and follow Jesus and bring in the harvest. (Mark 5:18-20). The woman of Samaria, who had a string of past husbands, found Christ and went back into the city, told her story of redemption, and started a revival! (John 4:28,29). Listen and I’ll bet you will hear a still, small voice saying, “Help Me with the harvest.” If you obey, you will be blessed to the depth of your heart. Tell others. Pray like crazy. Give like crazy too, and watch the harvest come in!
As I wrote this devotional I thought, just think, the Christian Worship Hour is going into the whole world, all over the globe bringing in the harvest. (We just got a letter from a man in Indonesia who said he had prayed to accept Jesus). Brother, Sister, when you pray, and give, and tell others---you are out there bringing in the harvest! (Isaiah 55:11).
And won’t we be glad we labored when we see the King! God bless you.
In our Savior's love,
Pastor Salem

A short excerpt from a broadcast by Pastor Salem:
I wonder if there is someone thinking about making something beautiful out of their life. You may have a sin in your life; or you really failed the Lord, or you drifted off; or maybe you did something, and you think, "Oh God will never take me. I am so bad."
Then this message is for you, and it is something beautiful. God loves you. It doesn’t matter what you have done, it doesn’t matter how terrible your sins are. Maybe, you're ashamed of them and you're sorry for them. Well, God will forgive you, He loves you, and He wants you to come to Jesus.
Whether you’re a young person or older in years, just pray and say, "Oh dear Jesus, I'm sorry for my sins and I ask you to come into my heart and take away my sins. I'll turn from them the best I can, and I'll serve you all my life. Thank you, Jesus."
I'm going to tell you a little secret. He will make something beautiful out of your life. He'll take your life, and make it shine, because His wonderful Holy Spirit will dwell within you, and the love of Christ will show in your life, and you will be beautiful. All people can be beautiful if they just have Jesus, and no matter what you've done, there is hope for you.
I love to preach the gospel, because no one is beyond hope until he dies. Then, it's all settled. Just remember to talk to Jesus.
